Speedy deletion nomination of Sunshine Mall
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Sunshine Mall requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Where'd you get the great ref's? I've tried citing the SPTimes/TBTimes in the past and hit pay walls.-- Deepfriedokra 03:53, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
- Deepfriedokra and Pokemonprime, yeah, great references for this shopping centre. There appears, to me, to be at least two qualifying reliable, independent news sources that meet our WP:SIGCOV definition so I'm reasonably confident this article would pass AfD. Deepfriedokra, Pokemonprime appears to be a great new editor, and I note from their userpage that they're hoping to be able to acquire access to Newspapers.com via a free subscription through Wikipedia Library. I note they don't have 500 edits yet, but wondering if as an administrator, you might be able to support them having access early? I'd certainly support that as well as the need is clearly there. - @User:Dmehus I would certainly love getting access early- the OCR workaround well, works but it can be rather clunky. I'd be eager to here any further opinions on this.
- Pokemonprime Pro tip: For faster replies, you might like to try using {{ping|FirstUsername|Second Username (if needed)}} or, similarly, {{rto|Username}} or {{u|Username}} as I find it much faster. --Doug Mehus T·C 15:54, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
- dmehus thank you for the info! I guess I should ping deepfriedokra as well, now that I know how.

@ Deepfriedokra the majority of my Tampa Bay Times citations I got from Newspapers.com instead of the Tampa Bay Times website proper. Now that site is obviously also behind a paywall as well, but I used the OCR text that's freely available on the newspapers.com/newspage/<pageid> page instead of the full scan; those pages also have the date info needed for the citation at the top, and the title can usually be pulled from the OCR text with a little parsing. (though not always, I'm not sure if the citation where I put the title as just "Tampa Bay Times" is still in there, but I did that for one where I couldn't find the title). Ones that weren't pulled from OCR text were pulled from freely available clippings. There were one or two cites from tampabay.com itself, but I encountered no paywall issues there- maybe because they're under the /archive/ url?

Thank you for joining Wikiproject:Shopping Centers!
[edit]Hey there Pokemonprime! Your work on pages related to our scope are invaluable to our project. I was wondering if I could get some input from you. Would you like to see the scope of WP:Retailing and WP:ShoppingCenters combined? Both are (mostly) inactive WikiProjects, but I would love your help in reviving interest. I was thinking the merging of the two projects could get us more traffic.
Windyshadow32 (talk) 21:39, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
Personally, I'd like to see the projects remain separate- mostly because the project is large enough, just focusing on shopping centers. Including WikiProject Retailing might dilute the project too much and make the scope a lot harder to handle. Considering how low traffic they are, however... I'm not sure. I'd probably like to wait and see what others think before I make a Yes/No vote. Windyshadow32 Pokemonprime (talk) 22:04, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
@PokemonPrime Thank you so much for your input! I put a message on the talk page of our project to see if anyone else will give their opinion on the matter :) Windyshadow32 (talk) 22:07, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
