User:Political Dweeb

[edit]

Hello I want to make it clear that I've really just been starting this new message board as a new Wikipedian but still I want to do my best to answer any comments on edits I made to articles and discuss and interact with Wikipedians about them.--Political Dweeb (talk) 11:48, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User's reasons

[edit]

For some reasons I've deleted these paragraphs on the images such as Image:PUP Logo.gif for the Progressive Unionist Party article, Image:40078028 sinnfein 203.jpg for the Sinn Fein article and both the Image:Shimpu.JPG and Image:JN.JPG used in the Ishin Seito Shimpu article. I went onto the page called "Media Copyright questions" to ask questions on how to suitably use copyright tags.

A user called Hux clarified for me saying I had got suitable copyright tags for the images saying that "(Non-free logo-when using this it needs brackets)" "can be used for all non-free (i.e. copyrighted) logos, not just political party logos." That is why I took these paragraphs away from my talk page on those logos. However the other reason is because I wanted to say I have used the logos that are orphaned on the articles I previously explained like the Ishin Seito Shimpu, Sinn Fein and the Progressive Unionist Party articles. If there is anything else on these logos image description page that can be improved can someone tell me. Political Dweeb (talk)

It's too large in its current state. Can you crop it so that the English part is missing. Cheers, пﮟოьεԻ 57 22:21, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bharatiya Janata Party

[edit]

Hi, responded to your query at the talk page of the article. You can have a look. Shovon (talk) 14:23, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, sorry for replying late. Regarding your second query which is about sourcing, you had mentioned that there might be an internal understanding between Nazis and BJP. This statement was not sourced apart from the fact that the website . has a banner of BJP. This banner might be (or not) be a one way decision by the Nazi party. BJP, it seems, are not aware of it. At least going by the Indian political scenario, it seems highly unlikely that BJP will have anything to do with Nazi Party. But you see, that's only my opinion. Anyway, thanks for the link. It gives me chance to write something interesting for my blog (there at least, I can write with enough POV). ;-) Shovon (talk) 10:18, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am not much of a Political writer. May be you can contact User:Soman or User:Releta Refario regarding info about different Political Parties and Groups in India. Thanks. Shovon (talk) 09:25, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Vyaghradhataki (or whatever) is communicating with me as I have reverted his unreferenced edits on Bharatiya Janata Party. Shovon (talk) 17:18, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Conservative Democratic Alliance

[edit]

I have reverted the unsubstantiated rubbish you wrote about CDA. Since I am Chairman I know somewhat more about my organisation than you do.

Why are you interested in my group? Mike Keith Smith (talk) 08:34, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Trotskyism and religion

[edit]

You asked "It's if this is the political position of Trotskyism then which Trotskyist internationals and groups believe in this idea of opposing the idea of forcing the world to exist without all of its religions but also believe in the natural end of religion's existence?" All currents in the tradition of classical Marxism take a similar view on this. A useful summary is Lenin's essay. Wikipedia really isn't the best place for this discussion. --Duncan (talk) 12:51, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dweeb. You are correct that Marxists are for religious freedom and for the separation of church and state. However, Marxists also think that religion will wither away slowly under socialism. Religion is a by-product of class society, and it will wither away alongside side it. --Duncan (talk) 13:55, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your questions. Please note that Trotskyite is normally a anti-Trotsky term; Trotskyist is preferred.
Do you mean that is what Trotskyites as well as Marxists believe in? Yes.
Apart from that would Trotskyites tolerate or accept the ideology of religious communism and socialism? Trotskyists would tolerate religious political currents subject to the same constrains as for other political currents: if they organised for counter-revolution, then they would be confronted. Otherwise, there would be freedom of religion. If you can, take a look at Michael Lowy's book on liberation theology. --Duncan (talk) 16:34, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Union of Cambodian Democrats

[edit]

Hello, Dweeb. It seems that the website does no longer exist since you only came up with old wayback machine archives, so what about the Union of Cambodian Democrats itself? Is this alliance still active or has it been dissolved? If so, it should be noted in the article. De728631 (talk) 22:20, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if no evidence can be found that the party has been dissolved, we must assume that it is still existant. Could it have been merged into other political groups though, or has it been renamed? De728631 (talk) 12:50, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:SJFP-logo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SJFP-logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:55, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Khmer Republicaqn Party.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Khmer Republicaqn Party.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 15:19, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User: Political Dweeb's Explanation

[edit]

I know there wasn't enough space to to say a bit more in the edit summary that explained why I deleted the paragraphs on Orphaned non-free media (Image:CWPM.gif)and Orphaned non-free media (Image:Mongolian Natonal Democratic Party.gif). So here I want to explain to any wikipedians who want to know that I have checked on the articles of Civic Will Party and Mongolian National Democratic Party to see if these logos called Image:CWPM.gif and Image:Mongolian Natonal Democratic Party.gif were taken away. However when I went onto those articles I found a user "718Bot" I think must have kept my image description page to the logo of Civic Will Party the same but replace the logo I uploaded that didn't work with one that does with a png type. I guess that user also did the same to the logo I was giving to the article on the Democratic Party (Mongolia) since there is still a logo on that article with a png type called Image:Mongolian National Democratic Party.png. I hope this gives extra information to any Wikipedians who want to know what I've been doing on these logos.Political Dweeb talk

Uncategorised tagging, and categorisation.

[edit]

Those article appear to have since been categorised, which should hopefully answer your question by way of illustration. If not, see WP:CAT, WP:UNCAT, and so on. Alai (talk) 03:36, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Political Dweeb's Question

[edit]

Non-free media should not be used in galleries- there should be the smallest number of non-free images that can be reasonably used- take a read of the non-free content guidelines, and especially the non-free content criteria. Only the current logo and other logos specifically discussed in the article (perhaps a particularly iconic one) really need to be included. J Milburn (talk) 20:53, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Logo-web.gif

[edit]

I have tagged Image:Logo-web.gif as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. Otherwise, it will be deleted in seven days. Melesse (talk) 01:38, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

For all these wonderful articles on Cambodian political parties - Political Dweeb, you're a champion! How on earth did you find all the info for those? I've lived here for ten years and watch Cambodian politics obsessively and I still learned heaps from reading your articles - great job! If you need any info, sources etc from Cambodia, let me know I'd be happy to help. Cheers, Paxse (talk) 19:46, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am indeed living in Cambodia - an amazing country and now my home. I'd be happy to collect and upload some logos for you. If you can find the addresses for me, I can also photograph each party HQ - though this will take some time. I'd upload any images to Commons (where I have an account[1] rather than to wikipedia, then they are available to all the projects - not just wikipedia. If you'd like to send me images or links via email - go to my page and click the 'email user' button on the navbar at the right of the page - I have email enabled. Gidday Political Dweeb!

[edit]

Very nice to get your friendly message - I haven't forgotten my mission. I printed out your helpful list and put it on my desk. I've just been too busy with work and family last week to go anywhere or do anything. This coming week looks a bit better, I'll see if I can make a start on hunting down some info. License tagging for File:2003-07-Flyer.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:2003-07-Flyer.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:05, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Political party update

[edit]

Hi Political Dweeb. A belated very Merry Christmas to you and yours - I hope it was a wonderful day. I've been busy myself over the holidays - off to Pursat to see family and watch the rice harvest and then busy with Christmas after - BUT I haven't forgotten to hunt down information for you. Before I headed north, I hunted out various parties from your list for you. However, only one was at the address listed on the NEC website. And they were very suspicious of my motivations - Cambodia is a rather paranoid country, minor political parties even more so. We have several leads still to track down yet, so don't give up hope. I will give you a full report on the status of each party when I get more news. Cheers, Paxse (talk) 16:45, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just found a Wikiproject that you may be interested in joining, Wikipedia:WikiProject Political parties of course you probably already know about it. Cheers, Paxse (talk) 17:53, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of American Centrist Party

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article American Centrist Party, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

No indication of meeting WP:ORG.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.  Sandstein  22:09, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:MEPY.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Speedy deletion of Khmer Anti-Poverty Party

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Khmer Anti-Poverty Party requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. Moving this from the deleted article's talk page:

Hello this is User: Political Dweeb here and I want to explain that I want to try and create this Wikipedia article about this American political party again. Firstly I want to say I’ve got a Microsoft document with that whole article I previously made some time ago and have added it here with some necessary parts. Secondly the necessary parts are for example finding a part of the party’s website as the article’s reference and also because this party still exists today I have put the existing party’s website address on the infobox and at the bottom of the article underneath a title which I changed from “website” to “External links”.

Thirdly I want to explain to all Wikipedians that I think before this article I made previously years ago was deleted I found some Wikipedians whoever they were chose to put names of people on the infobox of this party as its leaders. However they had given no sources. The article on this party I made some time ago before it was to be deleted, I guess I copied and kept on a Microsoft document which has the names of the party’s leaders some Wikipedian’s put on the infobox of this party and the names were “Barry Panozzo”, “Bright Moilly”, “Stark Stain” and “Bryant Moil”.

Could those Wikipedian’s who placed those names on the article’s infobox of the article about this political party please explain to me here or on my talk page as to whether there are any sources that support what they believe are the leaders of this party or are doing this as a joke or for some other possible reason that I could try to understand.

Fourthly I do not know what date the Georgia Centralist Party was created in because there are very few third sources on the internet to give a more wider amount of information and sources on this political party. Which is problematic since the party website itself des not have any e-mail address with which to contact its members them for various sources on their party.

All I could find was other things like that this party joined in Georgia’s 6th Congressional “District” of “February 23” in “1999”. Yet since I see on the Way back machine that the only time this party’s website developed and existed from the years of 1999 to 2000 as well as this party joining in Georgia’s congressional elections as the DC Political Report website here explains could mean this party was created in 1999 and went from 2000 to today as it exists.

If anyone or any Wikipedian wants to ask me anything else about this article then please discuss with me here or on my talk page, thank you and please reply soon.

Political Dweeb (talk)

Reply: the problem is that a search of Google's news archives (omitting press releases) gave zero hits; if they've never been in the news, then the odds are very low that they meet the requirements of WP:ORG. Also see WP:FIRST. - Dan Dank55 (push to talk) 18:46, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Georgia Centralist Party

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Georgia Centralist Party, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Zero google news hits on "Georgia Centralist Party" no indication that this can meet WP:N

Thank you for your message.

[edit]

Hello. Thank you for your message. While I find your research topic very interesting, I am afraid that I cannot really give you the kind of help you ask for. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a discussion forum, or a place for carrying out research. If you cannot understand Japanese, I think you cannot contribute to refining of the article on NSJWWP, and, if your discussion basically do not contribute to the editing of the encyclopedia, you are in the wrong place. Please read Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. Allow me to also ask you not to go on and post the same message on the talk pages of other users of Japanese Wikipedia (and other language versions as well). Thank you for your understanding. --Aotake (talk) 15:07, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of North Carolina Modern Whig Party and Modern Whig Party of Texas

[edit]

Somebody has nominated North Carolina Modern Whig Party, an article that you created, for deletion. He/she does not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/North Carolina Modern Whig Party. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

as a result of the above, I have also nominated Modern Whig Party of Texas, an article that you created, for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. List of political parties in the United States

[edit]

Just a heads up about the message I posted for you at the above entry:

Howdy-do, according to a ridiculous test I took online, I'm technically a Centrist, well "below" and "to the left" of Libertarian. Therefore I have opted to call myself a Centrist Libertarian--I think there are lots of us out there. I'm hoping this URL will help you in the quest: http://www.uscentrist.org/ for the Centrist Party page. BY the way, I see no evidence of minor third teeny-weent parties that use the name "Centrist".75.21.115.123 (talk) 08:08, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

I posted it there minutes ago. Hope it helps. I always though tof myself as a Socialist Democrat because that is what Albert Einstein was, but no, neither he nor I really affiliated with any party. I was raised a "Goldwater" Republican but my family switched to Democrat in 1980, and I'd been a Democrat until 2009. Good luck, and keep posting at List of political parties in the United States.75.21.115.123 (talk) 08:12, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
