User talk:Ryanastarzyk
Hello Pridenationlc. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Pridenationlc. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Pridenationlc|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Theroadislong (talk) 15:24, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for the reply. I am NOT a paid advocate nor am I compensated. Pridenationlc (talk) 15:31, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- What is your association with the media outlet? 331dot (talk) 15:56, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- I am the owner and founder of the media outlet. Pridenationlc (talk) 16:06, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- Admittedly ownership of a topic can be a gray area when it comes to paid editing, as ultimately you derive income from your ownership and marketing/publicity/promotion also ultimately falls within your duties even if you are not specifically paid to edit. However, you clearly have a conflict of interest that you should disclose. You will also want to change your username as it is that of your organization(which is not permitted per WP:USERNAME); I can change it for you if you tell what you would like it changed to. 331dot (talk) 16:11, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- I appreciate the assistance. You can change my username to drryanstarzyk - I will disclose the conflict as required and appreciate the assistance :) Pridenationlc (talk) 16:13, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- There is already an account Drryanstarzyk, was that yours? It has a single edit, asking a question last November 17th. 331dot (talk) 16:16, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yes. That is mine. We can use ryanastarzyk instead if that works. Pridenationlc (talk) 16:18, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- It would be better. 331dot (talk) 16:19, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- Let's do that then. ryanastarzyk - appreciate the assistance! Pridenationlc (talk) 16:20, 23 April 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Pridenationlc/sandbox/Pride Nation
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on User:Pridenationlc/sandbox/Pride Nation, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
- It appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement of https://ryanstarzyk.org/ethicspolicy. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. – NJD-DE (talk) 16:09, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- I want to thank you much, I would like to appear the speedy decision to delete. Pridenationlc (talk) 16:15, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- You can appeal at WP:REFUND, but a copyright violation is not going to be restored. You owning the copyright- as the owner, I assume- is insufficient unless the material on your website is already under a compatible license. 331dot (talk) 16:21, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- The information is under a compatible license. Pridenationlc (talk) 16:23, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- The content was however totally inappropriate for an encyclopedia article, so you will need to start again refering to waht independent, reliable sources have reported. Theroadislong (talk) 16:31, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Pridenationlc, @Ryanastarzyk, the info is under a compatible license? Ths pages I looked at said "All rights reserved" at the bottom. @331dot, @Theroadislong, that isn't compatible with use on WP, is it? 73.127.147.187 (talk) 05:38, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
- Ah, I missed Theroadislong's comment, so copyright doesn't really matter. Still, I am curious. 73.127.147.187 (talk) 05:40, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
- If I own the license and logo, and am the one putting it up, it still doesn't comply? I can remove it very easily if not. Ryanastarzyk (talk) 16:43, 26 April 2022 (UTC)

[edit]You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.
Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".
If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page.
You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text
{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.
Thank you. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 17:59, 23 April 2022 (UTC)- I actually did request a username change from 331dot and they said they would assist in changing it? Pridenationlc (talk) 22:02, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- I can't change the name of this account because you already created the account with that username. If you can, you should log into and use that account, and abandon this one. 331dot (talk) 22:05, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Drryanstarzyk is the one that they requested first and it's already registered. They then requested Ryanastarzyk which is not used by anyone yet. But yes, they could just abandon this one here and use the Drryanstarzyk one. – NJD-DE (talk) 22:10, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- That's fine, I am glad to use Drryanstarzyk - how do I change it? Pridenationlc (talk) 22:18, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- You just need to log out of this account and log into that one. If you no longer have that login information, we can change this to your second choice. 331dot (talk) 22:28, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- I don't have the log in info, sorry :( Pridenationlc (talk) 23:07, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- I have renamed your account and removed the block. You will need to declare your conflict of interest on your user page(User:Ryanastarzyk). Please see WP:COI for more information. 331dot (talk) 23:22, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
