Greetings, I was checking out pt.wiki for any articles on former Portuguese colonies, figuring that pt.wiki might have an advantage over en.wiki due to more Portuguese-language scholarship on such issues. That's how I found the bio of Chaves in the Cape Verde category. I wasn't planning to translate the remainder, as generally when "mining" other language wikis I create stubs just to establish the article on en.wiki, and eventually someone will wander in and translate the rest. That said, if you're interested in translating the rest I'd be glad to help, especially if you're a non-native speaker and would like some cleanup done after your translation.

Thanks for writing the article on pt.wiki; Chaves seems an interesting fellow, and definitely an notable figure in Portuguese colonial and Cabo Verdean history. MatthewVanitas (talk) 06:19, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Portuguese bibliography

[edit]

Greetings; though I'm not 100% on any semi-official policy, there are plenty of articles with non-English sources. Honestly, some topics really deserve articles, but just aren't well-covered in English media. I would suggest you just move forward, and include the Bibliography by its original Portuguese titles. If you include any links to external websites that are in Portuguese, people usually put an icon {{pt icon}} which shows up as (in Portuguese) in order to indicate what language the link is in. Sorte! MatthewVanitas (talk) 07:10, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
