Question from Cockatielaa (06:31, 24 March 2023)

Hey, I've just wanted to update a page for Bernard Ashwin regarding his achievements. I'm not familiar with him but he does appear as the first scout leader of the Cambridge scout group in New Zealand Waikato Cambridge. I have a photo from when I visited there recently where it states that "A Mr Bernard Ashwin was appointed the first Patrol Leader in these early years. Mr Ashwin became Sir Bernard Ashwin in 1956 when he received a K.B.E in that years Queens Birthday Honours.

I was hoping that you could suggest how I could incorporate it into his already existing page and create a page for the Cambridge Scout Group and the New Lynn Sea Scout Group. --Cockatielaa (talk) 06:31, 24 March 2023 (UTC)

@Cockatielaa, I'm afraid that would count as original research. Can you find any other source supporting this? — Qwerfjkltalk 07:03, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
I actually have a photo of the piece of paper that its all written on. Not sure if this would count. https://imgur.com/a/oVzgpu4 Cockatielaa (talk) 07:26, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
@Cockatielaa, unfortunately, that's not a reliable source - anyone could write some text on a piece of paper. Do you know where the information on the paper came from? — Qwerfjkltalk 14:50, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
Its from inside their new den at Cambridge. I was there during October last year. Cockatielaa (talk) 19:49, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
@Cockatielaa, unfortunately, if you can't find another source for it then it shouldn't be added to the article. — Qwerfjkltalk 20:26, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
Ah okay, all goods then. Cockatielaa (talk) 20:42, 24 March 2023 (UTC)

@Adakiko, I presume this is a bug in Huggle, as my bot didn't create that page (I moved this notice from my bot's talk page). — Qwerfjkltalk 09:13, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
A Huggle bug is probably the case. Thanks for the notice, I added a notice to the page creator's talk page. Cheers Adakiko (talk) 09:37, 30 March 2023 (UTC)

Re-parenting

This edit was logical in terms of parenting, but it also removed all the key figures from the former parent! I have just copied them back into it. – Fayenatic London 22:14, 31 March 2023 (UTC)

Restaurants in Karachi

Thanks for closing WP:Categories for discussion/Log/2023 March 20#Category:Restaurants in Karachi. I'm not familiar with the closing process, so where do we go from here? Should it be added to WP:Categories for discussion/Working#Empty then delete? Certes (talk) 14:47, 31 March 2023 (UTC)

@Certes: Qwerfjkl records them at WT:CFDW, and an admin (often me) processes them from there. This one is now done. – Fayenatic London 22:30, 31 March 2023 (UTC)

Contentious CFD

Hi, thanks for continuing to close CFDs including some that are contentious, but please note that WP:C2D is not a valid rationale for closing a contentious case. C2D explicitly only applies where a name is uncontroversial. I therefore advise you to reopen this CFD before it gets challenged – or give a longer rationale as to why certain arguments outweigh others. – Fayenatic London 14:46, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

@Fayenatic london, thanks, I've relisted it. — Qwerfjkltalk 16:36, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Alexander Averbukh (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Broken CfDW tool

I closed 4 discussions at CfD, all on April 2, only to find that your tool for listing discussions at WT:CFDW stopped working. I have verified on both Google Chrome and Safari that clicking the button at the top of each CfD nomination does nothing. Also, the "List pages" button in the toolbar appears outside of CfD. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 20:52, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

@LaundryPizza03, I'm not sure why this might have happened. Does reloading the page's cache (ctrl + f5) help? — Qwerfjkltalk 20:54, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
The List pages button appearing outside of CfD is intentional (or at least, not a bug). — Qwerfjkltalk 20:55, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
That is not the right shortcut for macOS. On Chrome, you would use Shift+Command+R or Shift+Reload button. And that didn't do anything. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 20:57, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
@LaundryPizza03, I think I know what the problem is. Can you check the browser console for any error messages (specifically "reading properties of undefined")? — Qwerfjkltalk 20:58, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
I don't know how to do that. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 21:16, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
@LaundryPizza03, I believe I have fixed the error, which was caused by a recent edit to {{Cfd top}}, meaning the script could not recognise the result of the closure.
Sorry about the slow response, it's hard to sort this out on my tablet. — Qwerfjkltalk 21:29, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
The boilerplate keeps appearing in the preloadings of listings. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 21:56, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
Now I couldn't list Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2023 April 4#Antigua and Barbuda task force project categories at CFDW, but I could do the other CfD's I closed with no problems. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 00:38, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
@LaundryPizza03, the first issue was due to a problem with regex concatenation which I have now fixed. The second issue is because it's missing a Nominator's rationale: which the script uses as an anchor; I've added an alert for this. I also changed the buttons to "List discussion(s)" because it makes more sense. — Qwerfjkltalk 09:58, 13 April 2023 (UTC)

Bad closure of a CfD

I've applied for a review of your closure of Category:Science fiction fans when no substantive discussion had taken place. Orange Mike | Talk 20:22, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

I think something is not quite right in this message. The "Fix" and "Ask for help" links go to and reference WP:Sandbox instead of an appropriate page. Can you please take a look? Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:52, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

@Jonesey95, that is produced by User:Qwerfjkl (bot)/inform/middle. The code wasn't passing in the necessary parameters; I've just modifief it to do so. — Qwerfjkltalk 15:36, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
