Well, it's kind'a an error on your end, I just replaced it with an automatic citation (a template). Its structure is (when it's based on doi): (2 curly braces) cite doi| place-doi-here (2 curly braces)

Most of it seems pretty alright, but there's just a few quibbles I have about his writing; firstly, he implies that Dakotaraptor is exceptionally large for a dromaeosaurid, but that's not quite accurate; a proper wording could be "exceptionally large for a dromaeosaur from the Hell Creek Formation"; since, judging from Matt's correction (and my own edits of the paper's size comparison), Dakotaraptor would be about the size of Achillobator or smaller, not bigger than Utahraptor.

One of my bigger quibbles is the organization of the Description section, which is far too in-depth and almost sort of rambles along; I fear it might cause the relevant information to fly over the heads of readers who are not into palaeontology and don't know all these anatomical terms. I tried to cut it down to a somewhat manageable size without cutting out content, but it's somewhat difficult. There's too much anatomical content in the article at the moment, and it's bloating the article unnecesarilly. Also, there's currently a lot more images in the article then there needs to be; we don't really need three separate reconstructions of the same genus in one article. I kept Emily's because it serves multiple purposes; that is illustrating the genus, showing it's environment and showing it's predatory habits. Raptormimus456 (talk) 17:59, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Well, to judge this issue, we should apply two simple and incontrovertible principles. Firstly we should keep to the source. The source literally states: "Dakotaraptor is diagnosed by the following characters;1) an exceptionally large dromaeosaurid...". Of course, we might feel the urge to object "but if two other species are just as big or bigger, how can it be exceptional..." but that would be a bit nit-picky. It's all relative and mentioning that Utahraptor is larger in the next sentence should make this clear to the reader. Perhaps it is also useful to consider that there seems to be a clear gap between "giant" and medium dromaeosaurids.

The second principle is that all relevant information has its rightful place in Wikipedia. The anatomy of Dakotaraptor is relevant (it's 99% of what we really know about the critter), it should be in Wikipedia somewhere and if not in the Dakotarapror article, where else should it be? What you essentially are arguing for is that articles should not adequately treat subjects if there are some people not interested in them. But there always are uninterested people: we should serve those who do care. Obviously, certain terms can pose difficulties. These should then be linked or explained. Removing the explanations to reduce the presumed "bloat" is not the way forward :o). Of course you're right that the style is not very concise at the moment. But we like to encourage professional input, so it is unwise not to show a little respect when a new editor of Mr DePalma's standing makes his first edits. And the longer text allows us to show those very useful pictures he brought with him. If we place them left and right and shorten the captions, there should be room for most of them.--MWAK (talk) 18:46, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

By "anatomical content", I was referring to how bloated the "Skeleton" section is with subheadings; we don't need subheadings for intricately explaining each of it's defining characteristics. :p

Also, the reason I'm not a fan of "exceptionally large" is that it implies that the genus is unique in this fashion; yes, bringing up Utahraptor helps, but then we need to remember that Achillobator is around the same size, and that Austroraptor was much bigger than any of them, and that there's other undescribed dromaeosaurs that are also bigger...it's not really "exceptionally large" if we have specimens of velociraptorine dromaeosaurs as big as Utahraptor from the Wessex Formation, and some other dromaeosaurids from Sudan and Antarctica may have been similarly sized to Achillobator and Utahraptor as well. Dakotaraptor is one of the largest described dromaeosaurids, but there's plenty of remains from similarly-sized animals all over the world; so "exceptional" only applies if you restrict the term to named genera. Well, we might add that. While keeping in mind those "specimens" largely consist of damaged teeth and broken claws :>). I personally would hesitate using so many subheadings. However, I had already created a Dutch article and it was linked to by the Czech wiki with the result there are now two link items. Not an insurmountable problem but still a bother.
