Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. I have noticed that some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to Five Finger Death Punch, have conflicted with our neutral point of view and verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page. Thank you. STATic message me! 15:21, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from changing genres, as you did to Bullet for My Valentine, without providing a source and without establishing a consensus on the article's talk page first. Genre changes to suit your own point of view are considered disruptive. Thank you. STATic message me! 15:34, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Genres

[edit]

Stop changing genres without discussion or sourcing. It's disruptive.

Acroterion (talk) 15:47, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see what's disruptive about it, but a lot of people on this site are ignorant af about it. That's why I'm changing the genres. You seem to be one of those ignorant fucks. It's no wonder everyone says Wikipedia isn't always right about everything.

The problem is explained at WP:GWAR. If you want to change the genres, that's not a problem, especially when they're wrong.
The best way to support a genre is to indicate that an expert in genres believes the band or album to be of a certain genre.
Problems arise when someone adds their own opinion that isn't supported by an expert's opinion.
The problem is compounded when other editors start imposing their opinion on the same article. We end up with edit wars.
So if you want to correct the ignorance of Wikipedia editors, do it by adding a style section to an article and then supporting the discussion of the band's style with an article or two on what their genre is. Then updated the infobox. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:24, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's even worse when someone has gone to the trouble of finding references to support a genre and you remove that. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:27, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I would like to remind you to be polite when speaking to other users. Try to keep your cool when editing here and maybe more users will understand you. Thanks. AkifumiiTalk 16:06, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, sorry about that. I just feel like the genres on certain pages are always wrong, that's y I always change them.

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to change genres without discussion or sources, you may be blocked from editing. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:19, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your personal assessment of a genre is not a satisfactory basis for making changes to the encyclopedia. It's not helped when you call those who point out that you're doing this "ignorant fucks." If you keep this up you won't be able to edit the encyclopedia any more: it's a privilege, not a right, and with respect, your opinion or mine don't matter. Sources are required. Acroterion (talk) 16:38, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

But not every genre on each page has a source. Don't u know that?

Last Warning

[edit]

Hi there, I'm Serge, an Admin here on Wikipedia. It seems you're receiving a lot of complaints about your constant changing to genre. Please take the time to figure out how exactly Wikipedia works. Its based entirely off of what can be verified by reliable sources. This is why you're getting so much opposition to your changes to genre, because you're operating entirely on your own opinion. That's the problem with genre, its often very subjective and open to interpretation. Which is why I strongly recommend that you find sources from reliable sources that back up the claims about genre, rather than depending on your thoughts on what is "obvious to you personally".

Wikipedia is a collaborative environment, so you need to work together with people, not merely write them off as "wrong" or "ignorant".

If there are any more genre changes without adding a reliable source, or if there is any more insults or namecalling, you are going to receive a short block. Please stop and take these warning seriously. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 16:39, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Oh my god, some genres on pages don't have sources. I've seen it w/ my own 2 eyes. Have u?

Yes, I certainly have seen it. But so what? Aren't you familiar with the saying two wrongs don't make a right? The fact that other people have done things wrong doesn't make you doing the same right. That argument is the equivalent to getting pulled over by a cop for speeding in your car and saying "Yes officer, I was speeding, but so was the car next to me!" A cop wouldn't care about such a reason, it wouldn't get anyone out of a ticket. Same concept here. Sergecross73 msg me 17:54, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Got confused by [1] not a "completely random troll" (BUT MAYBE SOMEONE ELSE IS). --Niemti (talk) 17:14, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to change genres without discussion or sources, as you did at Knives and Pens, you may be blocked from editing. Binksternet (talk) 22:45, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

All I did to Knives and Pens was change a capital letter to a lowercase letter. I've done that many times before, & this never happened.

This is the final warning that you will receive regarding continued genre changing without discussion or sources. If you choose to continue, as you did at Bullet for My Valentine, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Binksternet (talk) 16:06, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
