Problems
[edit]A big problem is you are identifying yourself in your user name - and you are writing in an unecyclopediac form about something you are the author of. There are Wikipedia polices that cut across this. You need either to have a chat offline - about all of this - or a possiblle tagging from a less negtoiable admin or editor who might take wikipedia polices a lot more seriously...SatuSuro 06:05, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- BTW - I endorse what the admin below is saying - please feel free to contact him - he's well worth knowing - and has a good sense of what is possible SatuSuro 04:53, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Hello Ray, Thanks for your nice article - I've heard about the walk and would love to do it (some anyway). I think I will now find myself a copy of the guidebook and perhaps put words into action!
I presume most of it is a precis from the guidebook. If so, It may be worth declaring your authorship of that here in case at some later date someone accuses you of copyright infringement. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and if there's any suggestion of plagiarism then the article will be deleted. I cannot see why you cannot contribute though - as the statement below the edit screen says: "Content that violates any copyright will be deleted. Encyclopedic content must be verifiable. You agree to license your contributions under the GFDL." Articles must not create a conflict of interest.
The article did need some copyediting to conform to Wikipedia style. Would you have access to any photographs and/or maps of the Track which are "free" or public domain? These would improve the article considerably IMHO. Images can be uploaded by clicking on the 'upload file' button on the left of screen. Such images need to show a suitable license.
Some more external references are also needed as all content in the encyclopaedia must be verifiable. Perhaps you have some - I've marked the article where these are needed with "citation needed".
If you need any help, just ask on my talk page. —Moondyne 04:30, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- ..I can't work out how to show that some of the content of the article also appears in books about the Track that I have published.. RayForma 05:50, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- You could just make short statement to that affect on the article talk page, OR you could say the same on your own user page. Many Wikipedians write a little about themselves there, particularly if they've had any work published. —Moondyne 05:59, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for February 13
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Domodossola–Locarno railway, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Gotthard tunnel (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Spanish BL 15 inch Mk I naval guns
[edit]Hi there, I speak to you in the spirit of improving Wikipedia accuracy rather than confrontation. Vickers built many guns both for export and for the British Government, to different specifications. There are many other factors other than the exact bore which are relevant to a particular Vickers gun, such as length, breech mechanism and construction method. The wire-wound 1913 gun of 42 calibres was specifically designed for the Royal Navy. Later export guns of (such as the guns for Spain, which were of 45 calibres) should be treated as different weapons. Rcbutcher (talk) 10:35, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
