[edit]

Dear Redtigerxyz, thank you for your advice on my talk page. But, not everyone seems to be convinced. For instance, see this discussion.BudChrSch (talk) 14:47, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

BudChrSch, my advice was regarding the mass removal of the script from FA and GA Hindu deity articles, which I have reverted. --Redtigerxyz Talk 14:49, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Am I missing something here? Does this policy apply differently to different categories of articles?BudChrSch (talk) 14:55, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
BudChrSch, this policy is one of the most controversial policies of Wikiproject India. Recently discussed in Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Sumedh_Tayade_and_WP:INDICSCRIPT, some say: WP:INDICSCRIPT contradicts MOS:FORLANG; others consider INDICSCRIPT sacrosanct. Sorry. I have no answers to your "Does this policy apply differently to different categories of articles?", because the scope of INDICSCRIPT is not clearly defined. I suggest you approach the admin User talk:Titodutta for clarity. --Redtigerxyz Talk 15:18, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion for Changing Vyasa page to Krishna Dvaipāyana Vyasa

[edit]

As discussed in Vyasa TALK page i have created a new page " Vyasa (title) ".But feel that the existing page Vyasa should be renamed to " Krishna Dvaipāyana Vyasa ", inorder to mention about the author of Mahabratha and his contribution. The new page "Vyasa (title) " should be the general platform for indicating all Vyasas ever existed . I have filed for this on Wikipedia:Dispute_resolution_noticeboard to obtain consensus among the various users involved. You are most welcome to go through Wikipedia:Dispute_resolution_noticeboard and tell your opinion. Thanks Arjunkrishna90 (talk) 05:48, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I saw your hook in Prep 2. I'm having trouble understanding the wording, though. Do you mean "a living being controls all its senses"? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 20:45, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Redtigerxyz. On 16th Feb you created article Sharad Chauhan. Page for this politician was already present under Sharad Kumar (politician) name (which was as per Election commission website). If the name change was desired, then the page should have been moved to the new (desired) name but instead, you blanked the existing page and put a redirect. I am sure, being an experienced editor, you are well aware that the page history also needs to be kept intact. Can you please restore the original page, request for merge on Sharad Chauhan and then move the original page Sharad Kumar (politician) to the new desired name? Many thanks. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 08:22, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

User:AKS.9955, Though he fought the 2015 election, his official site [1] as well as AAP site and news sites call him Sharad Chauhan. I created the article based on Delhi Legislative Assembly election, 2015 and was not aware of Sharad Kumar (politician). Sharad Kumar (politician) was primarily a one line (of readable prose) article, so I redirected to the WP:COMMONNAME. Asking an admin for help. User:Titodutta, can you please advise on this and do the needful.--Redtigerxyz Talk 09:52, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Urgent help needed on the article Kumhar

[edit]

Respected User, A huge traffic of i.p. users is continuously tempering with the sourced contents of the page. Their intention is merely caste promotion to which they actually belong, and it can be well verified by their conversation on the talk page of this article. They are continuously adding the self opinion based, unsourced contents removing the sourced contents. The article is continuously being de-shaped. Immediate attention and needful action is needed to protect the page. Who can understand better than you that it takes a lot of efforts to build a fully sourced article and it is not good when it becomes victim of disruptive editing just for the sake of advertising or promoting caste based ideas. Please interfere, i humbly request-- Mahensingha (Talk) "Thanx n Regards" 14:41, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mahalasa Goddess

[edit]

Hello Redtigerxyz Sir, I am confused whether Shri Mahalasa Goddess is incarnation of Vishnu? Because already Hegadi Pradhan was present in Jejuri, (her consort Khandoba's kingdom) as a form of Vishnu. Shri Mahalasa Goddess has become recently popular in Maharashtra and her new temples are being constructed. If i want to add some information about her divine nature, what should i do? And she was not ugly as described in Khandoba article, it disgraces her goddess image, i want to remove that OSMAX20 (talk) 13:58, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OSMAX20, Mahalasa is worshipped in two traditions. One, her independent worship in Newase and Mardol and second, as a consort goddess to Khandoba. In the Mardol tradition, Mahalasa is Mohini and by extension, Vishnu. In Khandoba tradition, she (spelt Mhalsa) is Parvati; sometimes a combined avatar of Mohini and Parvati and the Pradhan is Vishnu. Günther-Dietz Sontheimer, one of the foremost authorities on Khandoba, writes that Banai is contrasted with Mhalsa, where Banai is erotic and beautiful; while Mhalsa is homely and ugly. --Redtigerxyz Talk 18:34, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Checking your edits, probably you are talking about Mandodari as Mother of Sita story versions of the Ramayana in Malay and Javanese cultures. Scholars do discuss them, while discussing Mandodari. --Redtigerxyz Talk 18:47, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mandodari

[edit]

Mandodari was the wife of Ravana who abducted Sita, So please don't give misleading information because it will falsely prove that Ravana loved his own daughter in a bold manner, I think other religious view of Hinduism would almost be supportive to disgrace the deities images which the max scholars you mentioned are adherents of. Please tell them what they need to change to make VisualEditor work well for you. The team has a list of top-priority problems, but they also want to hear about small problems. These problems may make editing less fun, take too much of your time, or be as annoying as a paper cut. The Editing team wants to hear about and try to fix these small things, too.

You can share your thoughts by clicking this link. You may respond to this quick, simple, anonymous survey in your own language. It was inappropriate of you to tag Uchchaihshravas as an uncontroversial move. You knew that another editor (me) contests that name. In addition, I'd like to note that wikipedia guidelines for the romanisation of Sanskrit are pretty clear it should be Uccaihshrava. It should not be in the nominative case, it should not use chch. And I think we should discuss NGRAMS and the like if you are still so direly opposed to not using an 18th century ad-hoc romanisation for Sanskrit for a relatively obscure topic. Akshardham Environmental Violation section

[edit]

Hello User:Redtigerxyz,

I noticed that you used to work on Swaminarayan related topics. If you have time would you please take a look at the Akshardham Delhi article and the discussion. The users there are aggressive on removing the correctly cited and sourced criticism regarding their building because they do not want to see any factual information regarding the overall impact of their temple on the environment. Here are the links [4] and this discussion [5] and if you have time pleas provide your input. There is a cited content dispute that is occurring on the talk page and I feel you can help with some clarification for this topic.

Thank you Swamiblue (talk) 16:34, 24 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I want to suggest an edition to the Wikipedia article entitled [Hinduism].

[edit]

A few years ago I tried to make an edition to the article on Hinduism. After the first mention of "Hinduism" in the article, I wanted to point out that the term Hindu is not native to the people of India, nor to the Vedas which are the books of so called "Hinduism". The actual religion of India is Dharma [1] or Sanatan Dharma.[2] However, my attempts were denied for lack of scholarly sources.

Today I find that there is an article in Wikipedia that makes the same point I was trying to make. It is found at https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Hinduism/Etymology_of_the_words_Hindu_and_Hinduism. [3]

Once again I request that after the term Hinduism at the start of the article "Hinduism", there should be a statement, with notation, that the term Hindu is not indigenous to India (or Bharata). The proper universal term for the religion of so called "Hindus" is Dharma or Sanatan Dharma.

I look forward to some progress in correcting this error of omission, which I and many "Hindus" find offensive.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Yours truly,

Send Diwali wishings by adding {{subst:Happy Diwali}} to people's talk pages with a friendly message.

Please model the first 2 sentences of the article based on your own source HERE. Your own source's first 2 sentences say:

"Brahma is a divinity who makes his appearance in the post-Vedic Indian epics (c. 700 B.C.E-100 C.E.). He has an important role in the stories of the great gods in the epics and Puranas."

VictoriaGraysonTalk 15:18, 14 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2nd para 1st sentence mentions it. --Redtigerxyz Talk 04:38, 15 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Brahma

[edit]

Thanks for your tactful editing on Brahma. That dispute seemed endless and pointless. If you want to add any of the sources listed on the talk page that can back up the prajapati edit. I might, but I don't want to provoke anyone. Iṣṭa Devatā (talk) 08:36, 15 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There is a Hindu trinity of Surya-Agni-Indra. There is also a trinity of Balarāma-Ekānaṃśā-Kṛṣṇa (read Kiss of the Yogini). Both of these are earlier than the Trimurti. Then there is a trinity of Mahālakṣmī, Mahāsarasvatī, and Mahākālī (see Kiss of the Yogini). So you cannot describe Trimurti as "the Hindu Trinity" as you do in the lead. Calling stuff fringe

[edit]

Wendy Doniger uses the term "secondary creation" in many of her works, including her Purana entry on Encyclopedia Brittanica. So you have atleast 2 famous indologists, Edwin Bryant and Wendy Doniger, using the same terminology. And the terminology is used in tertiary sources such as Encyclopedia Brittanica.VictoriaGraysonTalk 18:48, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As I've repeatedly explained: the authors are not fringe. The subject they are discussing is a sectarian puranic worldview that they do not describe as mainstream. They say that this is part of the Puranic view and that the puranic view informs the popular. That does not mean that the idea is mainstream. And the encyclopedia Brittanica entry you list does not describe Brahma as a secondary creator; it says Puranas describe (among other things) primary and secondary creation. She does not attribute secondary creation to Brahma. It does attribute creation to Prajapati and not to Vishnu. Brittanica also describes Prajapati as associated with Brahma in the post-vedic age on the Prajapati entry. You've got to read your sources better. As for Bryant, he is a mainstream indologist discussing an (arguably) fringe tradition.Iṣṭa Devatā (talk) 17:07, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Let us not go in the realm of WP:SYNTH. Purana article says "secondary creation". It does not mean that the "secondary creator" describing Brahma is a mainstream term. Please provide some references of other scholars who use the term for Brahma.--Redtigerxyz Talk 18:22, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Holi reversion

[edit]

While correcting some mostly minor errors of punctuation and style in Holi#India (in the part on Gujarat), I noticed the conflict between the apparently new user AdamM2016 and the change reviewer MBlaze Lightning over the former's (probably good-faith) violation of WP:RS. I did not change any of that, but simply made the language and punctuation fixes to improve readability and consistency.

I try to avoid edit-warring, and MBlaze Lightning certainly has a grip on the RS situation as AdamM2016 appears not to. If possible, please don't revert my corrections. Thank you.

Please {{Ping}} me to discuss. --Thnidu (talk) 15:33, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I have nominated the subject list for FL. Could you find some time out and give your comments here? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 08:31, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've created this article on Bhagadatta's elephant. However, there seems to a World Elephant of the same name. What should be the possible title for Bhagadatta's elephant then? Also pinging Nvvchar and Ms Sarah Welch. Vensatry (Talk) 07:17, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Vensatry, there are 3 elephants called Supratika: one is Bhagadatta's; another is a diggaja (world elephant) and another appears in a tale of Garuda. All three have very brief appearances; we can have one article dedicated to all three of them.--Redtigerxyz Talk 10:55, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. I'm trying to take Bhagadatta's elephant to DYK. Do you have sources for the other two? Also, can you show similar articles (if any) so that I'll try to construct this one based on them? Vensatry (Talk) 11:02, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Vensatry, Bhagadatta's Supratika only appears in the battle part of Mbh I suppose. It is said to have done many heroic deals, before been slain by Arjuna along with his master; as far as I remember.--Redtigerxyz Talk 11:15, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You're right. But what about the other two? - little is known about them. Vensatry (Talk) 11:17, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Vensatry, All three appear in the Mbh (. [6] for Garuda story and [7] for diggaja. --Redtigerxyz Talk 11:20, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Vensatry: Indeed, @Redtigerxyz is right. Merge them. For sources on Supratika, see this and this. Do mention that this is one of many, and a minor cosmology theory in Hindu texts. Also mention that Supratika is also the name of a sage, who appears in various texts such as the Mahabharata, who in Mhbrt is linked to the elephant. Ms Sarah Welch (talk) 12:01, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Both: Do we have any such articles (dealing with more than one subject)? Vensatry (Talk) 17:00, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
New Testament people named Mary is a good example. --Redtigerxyz Talk 17:51, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Can we have an article on Vibhavasu so that the stuff about his brother could be incorporated there? Also pinging Ms Sarah Welch. Vensatry (Talk) 15:37, 10 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, the Mahabharata says 'Vibhavasu' is a name of the sun god (and the moon god as well)! Vensatry (Talk) 15:41, 10 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
