Professional wrestling career

[edit]

Independent circuit (2004-present)

[edit]

Paul Robinson began training as a professional wrestler in the early 2000's under "The Notorious" Jon Ritchie.[5] in 2006, he started wrestling for the International Pro Wrestling: United Kingdom promotion where he began forming a tag team with Marty Scurll as The Midnight Ravers. Later on, they moved forward to forming infamous The Leaders Of The New School stable with two other talents, Nikko Brixton and Zack Sabre Jr.. During the mid 2000's, Robinson was working full time with IPW:UK and had had feuds with wrestlers such as Ashley Reed, Noam Dar and Jack Storm. In that period of time he met Will Ospreay, who would have later become his tag team partner and with whom he would have founded The Swords of Essex faction. [6] He would seldomly team up with Martin Kirby and Kip Sabian as Project Superbad Times are Coming and PJ Jones as The Daredevils.[7]

Tenure with IPW:UK and Revolution Pro Wrestling (2006-2017)

[edit]

Robinson was a member of two factions in two different promotions. In International Pro Wrestling: United Kingdom he was part of The Swords of Essex, and in Progress Wrestling he was a part of Regression, stable leaded by Jimmy Havoc and completed by Rob Lynch and James Davis as a tag team better known by their name of London Riots and Isaac Zercher. Robinson won the IPW:UK World Championship[8] at IPW:UK Title Showdown 2013: Evening Show[9] by defeating Sha Samuels.[10] In that period of time, The Swords Of Essex began gaining popularity in the british professional wrestling, as they won the British Tag Team Championship (RevPro), the FPW Tag Team Championship and the IPW:UK Tag Team Championship after the Swords became a true stable when Amazon and Scotty Wainwright joined in 2013.[11][12] Thw Swords Of Essex debuted in What Culture Pro Wrestling[13] but their tenure with the promotion lasted for a short period of time. Robinson dealt with serious health issues, thing which made him retire from professional wrestling in April 2017.[14] He eventually recovered unexpectedly fast and returned in August the same year.[15] After his return, he worked as a guest referee in a match between two of his former tag team partners, Will Ospreay and Jimmy Havoc, costing Havoc the match, turning on him.

Progress Wrestling (2017-present)

[edit]

Robinson's popularity skyrocketed, becoming a pioneer of british wrestling by teaming up with Will Ospreay and taking Progress Wrestling by assault along the Swords Of Essex. He and Ospreay captured the Progress tag Team Championship in December 2018 at Chapter 82: Unboxing Live, A Dukla Prague Away Kit[16]. On September 2019, Robinson became the first ever Progress Proteus Champion after winning a 30-man royal rumble by lastly eliminating Danny Duggan at Chapter 95: Still Chasing[17]. The Proteus title replaced a retired Atlas Championship last held by Walter.[18]
