You have uploaded two images. I get the feeling that you took them but you must confirm this by placing either {{pd-self}} or {{GFDL-self}} in the image description for each one. -- RHaworth 00:19:15, 2005-09-09 (UTC)

Earth Centre

[edit]

The piece you submitted about Earth Centre is a copyright violation from http://www.townfield.doncaster.sch.uk/earthcentre.htm . Given that:

  • the same web page says: Earth Centre closed in October 2004. Earth Centre is now in administration and is no longer open to the public.
  • the title sounds arrogant - suggests Conisbrough is the centre of the earth - which we all know is not true - York is the centre!
  • you have added a note to Doncaster about the Earth Centre.

I have 'buried' your submission - you will find it as the first state of this talk page.

Thank you for tagging one of your uploads. But not quite right: you do not put the <nowiki> tag around the template when you actually use it. Also, if you are happy with PD release, I think PD-user is a silly template - it says I, the creator but there is no way to say who I is. I prefer to use:

{{PD-user|Rich@rd}}

So please tag both your uploads as above - remember - copy from the rendered text, ie. as you see it in the normal page view, but paste it into an edit box. -- RHaworth 05:49:20, 2005-09-10 (UTC)

Yes, I realised later that no wiki should not be included, went back to remove but couldn't find it so left it at that. I wondered whre I should put my name - now I know

Thanks, I've used your suggestion. hadn't realised I had to change 'user' to my user name!! I'm now trying to fid the other image I have uploaded, but no idea where it is! -R

Earth Centre 2

[edit]

I don't mind being referred to as an admin person - but you can still talk to me on my talk page. Also everything I have done to your article could have been done by any logged in user - I only used my admin rights to remove one unimportant redirect.

There was a fourth reason for burial which I did not state above: I suspect you are a fly-by-night poster who will not be back. I am delighted to be proved wrong on this point and have therefore restored the article, but I insist on ", Doncaster" in the title - Google says there is another Earth Centre in Bodenham.

You are welcome to work on the article at Earth Centre, Doncaster/Temp.

The /Temp is because the first section remains a blatant copyright violation. At the bottom of the Town Field School page it clearly says: this website is copyright 2005 ©. Now if you could arrange for that notice to read this website is copyright 2005 © but Wikipedia has our full permission to reproduce it / its text, then everthing would be all right. Failing that, the various other remedies are discussed or linked to at the top of the Wikipedia:Copyright problems page.

Once you have fixed the copyright problem, add a note to the entry about the article at Wikipedia:Copyright problems#September 8. Do not attempt to copy-and-paste back to Earth Centre, Doncaster - that move does require an admin.

Keep up the good work! -- RHaworth 06:56:43, 2005-09-10 (UTC)

Thanks Roger - so much to learn with wiki. I'm hoping that more people add to the Earth Centre page, 'cos I don't want to have to do it all myself. I thought that if made a start, then others could contribute. I'm actually in touch with Jonathan Smales (founder) and there are plans to make a 'Living Archive', possible a website. I',m not quite sure who has the copyright for all their published materials now they no longer exist.

Finding out a bit more about wiki

[edit]

Ha - just found out how to add a comment (ie this) and also discovered that when you add an image you need to be very careful with case -it may be .jpg or .JPG

I guess I can use this page as my own personal sandbox.Rich@rd 18:27, September 10, 2005 (UTC)Rich@rd

You can but other Wikipedians don't like to get sand between their toes while trying to talk to you. It is very easy and cheap to make your very own sandbox at, for example User:Rich@rd/sandbox - just click on that link. -- RHaworth 09:16:26, 2005-09-11 (UTC)

And tangled in the seaweed as well, I guess. Ta for sandbox.

[edit]

File:Conisbrough Castle.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Conisbrough Castle Doncaster winter time.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Conisbrough Castle Doncaster winter time.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 23:40, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Earth Centre, Doncaster. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Earth Centre, Doncaster. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 02:28, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have just been reading the comments by someone that the introduction to earth centre reads like a press release. That's probably because it WAS a press release. The text was copied and pasted from their own literature. Before this page was created by myself there was NO page about earth centre, and I see no problem about using press release material. As the centre is now closed, the text is not really being used for advertising. Rich@rd (talk) 11:24, 21 February 2010 (UTC)rich@rd[reply]
