File permission problem with File:Russell L. De Valois.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Russell L. De Valois.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 01:31, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Eeekster: Hello Eeekster, thank you for your help. I have forwarded an email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org with permission from the original photographer last Thursday (the 17th of March, 2016), but have not received a reply. I would the to add the photo as a non-free historic photo of Russel L. De Valois for the Russel_L._De_Valois page. The original photographer explicitly granted permission for the photo to be used in this Wikipedia article. Thank you, S051125E (talk) 20:46, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Faux Russell L. De Valois.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Faux Russell L. De Valois.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.
If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.
Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Steel1943 (talk) 19:01, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
License tagging for File:FauxOpponentCells.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:FauxOpponentCells.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:05, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:FausSpatialFrequency.JPG
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:FausSpatialFrequency.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]Hello, I'm Oshwah. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Draft:Russell L. De Valois with this edit, without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:46, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
Draft:Russell L. De Valois
[edit]Just a comment on your recent edit summary on Draft:Russell L. De Valois where you mentioned that you had “added link to improve citation references” what you had actually done was to wiki link another article. Citations or references are like the ones I added to the awards section and this is what the article needs more of reliable sources (which ideally are independent) of the subject. Cheers. Theroadislong (talk) 17:04, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
- I see you have resubmitted the article already! The only reliable third party sources are the five that I added, it needs many, many more. References to his own work are not any good. Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources gives you guidance on what types of sources are considered reliable. Theroadislong (talk) 19:11, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

SwisterTwister talk 07:41, 15 May 2016 (UTC)The automobile accident
[edit]Dear S051125E. I am not sure who you are, although I have made a guess. (I, on the other hand, am who my username says I am.) In any case, I wanted to let you know of the impression the paragraph on Russell L. De Valois's death left me with, at least initially. It was that the accident involved impaired driving from being at the reunion. The reference I added to the paragraph states that the accident occurred in Rock Springs, WY, putting a completely new slant on the paragraph. Google Maps tells me the accident location is more than five hours drive from Estes Park, CO. I now assume that Russell and Karen were driving back to University of California, Berkeley, a drive taking at least 18 hours, possibly setting off the day after the reunion. Anyway, this is a rather long way of saying you might like to redraft the paragraph to dispel my initial impression, if indeed it was incorrect.Robert P. O'Shea (talk) 06:44, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
