This is coming from an Wiki Admin who ridiculed "American" by saying "Mercan"Talk:The_Rolling_Stones/Archive_3#The_band_is_or_the_band_are. The Niceness essay suggests, presumably unintended, irony by bringing to mind the Holy Father discussing sex: you wonder just how much he has to add? I don't quite understand how I brought God into the essay? But anyway, the reference to "Mercan" was written a long time ago and I must make it plainly clear that I have nothing against American people. And I don't know how God got into it either, it sure wasn't done by me, unless I made a too literal reference to the Pope. To prevent further misunderstandings and incorrect assumptions: I am an American - smack dab in the middle of California, to be more exact - not "Mercan" or English. (I'm not sure how I'm presumed to be English and not American, but no offense taken. Honest.) I don't have anything against other nationalities, such the English or Swedes, either, but when I direct ridicule towards nationalities, I try not to include Wikipedia. And why in the world would it seem to bother me "too much" by pointing out apparent hypocrisy? My feelings are not hurt at all, even though I wonder how they could be relevant in any case. In my mind you are a very surprising authority on niceness. But hey, it doesn't mean you can't proscribe it better than have demonstrated it in, hopefully few, select examples. Possibly they are lessons in niceness that you learned to yours, as well as our, profit. Buddies and friends

"I call people on Wikipedia "friend" or "buddy". As long as unsolicited familiarity is at least initially OK on your part, can we call you "dude"? "Dude" (pronounced "dood"), BTW, is a pervasive term of endearment in California and other states directed towards both sexes. If somebody objects - or, as we say in California, "gets butthurt", should a prompt apology then be mandatory and the familiar tone dropped vis a vis that editor?
