I have been finding quite a few misspellings using some simple rules:

  • Double a consonant when there is supposed to be only one.
    • (reffered, refference)
  • Use a single consonant when two are required.
    • ()
  • Anything with "-ly" on the end will be misspelled.
    • (initialy)
  • Leave out the second or third vowel in a word, but not both.
    • (extrnal)
  • Use "-r" instead of "-er" as an ending.
    • ()
  • Use "-st" instead of "-est" as an ending.
    • ()
  • Transpose two adjacent consonants in the middle of a word.
    • ()
  • Transpose two adjacent vowels in the middle of a word.
    • ()
  • The endings "-el" and "-le" are interchangeable (or is it -abel?).
    • ()
  • The phrase "i" before "e" except after "c" is not often used.
    • (recieve, concieve, beleive)
