Question from Vyniamirski (06:56, 26 April 2024)

Dear Rj Miller,

Subject:- Proposal for editing “The AMHARIC language of Wikipedia”.

Dear Sir,

I have seen the AMHARIC language of Wikipedia. It needs more editing and more improvements.

I am professional in Amharic language editing and even creative writing. I have ample experience in this regard.

Therefore, would you kindly accept my proposal to edit the AMHARIC language of Wikipedia?

Sincerely, Abdurahman Ahmedin Wikipedia username: Vyniamirski password: (Redacted)--Vyniamirski (talk) 06:56, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Vyniamirski:, that would likely be a question to ask over at [am.wikipedia.org Amharic Wikipedia], though I believe you can just start editing any time you want to. Also, it is not advisable to post your Wikipedia password in public because others might gain access to your account. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 07:45, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

Question from Samprat (21:50, 29 April 2024)

Good day, my mentor. I am a registrar at a university, and I am aware that several notable people in my university are not listed and want to assist in listing their biography on Wikipedia. Is there a template that i can adopt for University professor as a guide? --Samprat (talk) 21:50, 29 April 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Samprat:, to create an article, check out WP:How to create a page and for instructions on the content within, check out Wikipedia:Writing better articles. Just be sure that you have no personal connection to the people you're writing for, as this creates a WP:COI. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 07:44, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

Question from Artistchristelle on User:Artistchristelle/sandbox (08:11, 8 April 2024)

Hi, when my page will get published? --Artistchristelle (talk) 08:11, 8 April 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Artistchristelle:, judging by the sandbox this appears to be an article about yourself. It is highly recommended not to write articles about yourself; please see WP:COI for more. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 14:55, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
no this is not. Somebody else wrote the text Artistchristelle (talk) 16:08, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
hi! how I can fix my article? as I said I didn't write it. I gave my email and somebody for me wrote it. how is it possible to publish the article? Artistchristelle (talk) 08:17, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
You're still attempting to publish an article about yourself, which is a WP:COI issue. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 09:09, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
hi! I have changed the email and put the email of my friend, my friend who has written the article. when do you think the article can be published? Artistchristelle (talk) 09:27, 2 May 2024 (UTC)

Question from Samantha stolz on User:Samantha stolz (13:09, 1 May 2024)

How to put a photo up ? --Samantha stolz (talk) 13:09, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Samantha stolz:, to add a photo you can either upload it to Wikipedia Commons and add it that way, or there should be an option in the visual editor to upload an image there. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 15:04, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

Question from Robin Kanerva (15:43, 5 May 2024)

Hi! I created a company page for a company - how long do it usually take for it to get published? --Robin Kanerva (talk) 15:43, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Robin Kanerva:, it seems you have created this page in your userspace rather than in main article space - check out WP:How to create a page on how to get an article created, but if you're creating a page for a company you are involved in please make sure you familiarise yourself with WP:COI guidelines. ser! Question from Afiddle (02:40, 8 May 2024)

Hi!

I've recently made edits to the page of Mary Beth Goodman, a public figure in a significant international role who's been a part of developments of public interest over the past few years (and notably, months, as she's taken on her newest position). Is there any way for the draft page to move to publication sooner? My understanding was that as someone with an autoconfirmed account (which I thought I had), I would be able to move the article from being a draft to being a published.

Any suggestions you might have would be welcome! --Afiddle (talk) 02:40, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Afiddle: and thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. It seems to me from looking at your draft that you're doing everything right so far, especially re giving the WikiProject tags to the talk page. I will say I don't have much experience in the AfC process so my ability to help here is limited, but I would estimate someone will be able to review your draft in good time. ser! Question from Avwislon (05:01, 20 May 2024)

Hello! Thanks for being a mentor. I wanted to add an article about the scale model of the Solar System that was installed in Belgium in 2004, but the funding organisation failed to publicise it, so it is little known, which is a shame. So the only source on the internet is from the sculptor himself. Is that a problem for adding a page? I have added info about the model in one line in the page Solar System Model, but I really think it deserves its own page - like the Swedish model. Apparently the funding org (The association MUCO (Belgian Association for the Fight against Cystic Fibrosis)) is going to add something to their website - should I wait for that? --Avwislon (talk) 05:01, 20 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Avwislon:, to create an actual page you would need a lot of independent, significant coverage - I believe most of the solar system models don't have pages so it's possible the Swedish one is a notable outlier! So if you want to create a draft page, feel free to submit it to Articles for Creation where someone can assess it, and use whatever sources you can find - I believe a source from the sculptor himself would be fine. ser! Question from Bathynomus-enthusiast (02:00, 21 May 2024)

I'd like to source a paper (Lowry, J. K. and Dempsey, K. (2006). The giant deep-sea scavenger genus Bathynomus in the Indo-West Pacific), and I've seen it cited in another Wikipedia article, but I'm having trouble using the 'automatic' option of the citation tab in the visual editor, as I don't know how to find the reference code for it. Could I have some advice on how to source this paper? --Bathynomus-enthusiast (talk) 02:00, 21 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Bathynomus-enthusiast:, if you've seen the paper used as a reference in another Wikipedia article it's possible to copy and paste it to another tab to use it as a source if you have the source editor open - just change the access date and any other relevant parts that need amending! ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 19:38, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for the help! Bathynomus-enthusiast (talk) 00:51, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

Question from NextWeekEastLynneO (03:22, 10 May 2024)

How do I establish a new section of a wiki article? For example, when I write plot summary, the words appear within a grey box, and not as a heading. --NextWeekEastLynneO (talk) 03:22, 10 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi @NextWeekEastLynneO:, apologies for the delay in responding - I did not get a notification for this for some reason! To create a new section, skip down several lines and depending on what size header you want, either put two equals (=) signs or three of them, before AND after the title of the section, then write the content below it. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 10:02, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
I've learned since, but thank you! :) NextWeekEastLynneO (talk) 11:43, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
