Welcome

Hello, ShawnMohammed and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students. Go through our online training for students

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one please tell your instructor about that. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:49, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, ShawnMohammed, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I see that you haven't edited in about a week so I just wanted to leave you a message here and let you know that I've reviewed the nomination. I also wanted to comment and say that for a first DYK it's a very well written article and a very interesting hook, so great job with that. Happy thanksgiving! - Aoidh (talk) 02:30, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the review of the nomination and your kind words. I hope you had a good thanksgiving! ShawnMohammed (talk) 20:46, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I also have a clarification question: when will the article be on the DYK page? I am just curious and excited to see it on there :)! ShawnMohammed (talk) 20:49, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, so sorry I didn't have your talk page on my watchlist (it is now) so I didn't see your response until just now. Once approved it's added to WP:DYKQ, which as you can see on that page your hook is currently part of Prep area 2 which isn't quite in the actual queue yet but per Template:Did you know/Queue#Local update times should go on the main page at 00:00 UTC (midnight) on 8 December. While that's not set in stone and can still be moved around it's likely that's when it'll be displayed on the main page, barring any sort of change to the prepped sets or anything. I also had a wonderful Thanksgiving because turkey, stuffing, and gravy is my absolute favorite food, and I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well! Sorry again it took me so long to respond! - Aoidh (talk) 15:30, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Japanese tree frog

[edit]

On 8 December 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Japanese tree frog, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the calling patterns of the Japanese tree frog have been used in wireless network design, furthering an area of science known as swarm intelligence? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Japanese tree frog. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Japanese tree frog), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
