Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Will do but I dont think ive made any edits on Kurdistan related pages lol ShovelandSpade (talk) 19:49, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I mixed that up. Ao192 edited in the area and I thought you had undone at least one of their contributions there. But looking again, that has actually not happened. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:58, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Too far[edit]

Hello ShovelandSpade, please have a look at these edits again:

Before I attempt to write a long text about civility and battlegrounds, would you mind reading one single section of a policy, very slowly, word by word? Not the entire policy; noone does that when asked. But you could, please, have a look at this one:

Afterwards, is there anything you'd change if you could go back in time? Thank you very much in advance and best regards,
~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:51, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey bossman I'll check em out tomorrow as I've gone off pc, the articles did have an issue with references, can't remember which one I said I'd find better sources but I got busy today and disregarded it, I'll get to it all tomorrow though and yes I'll review the policy you linked. ShovelandSpade (talk) 20:13, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
😅 "bossman" is new.
Thanks and take your time. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:31, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yh tbh shouldnt have gone into the process of calling him an immature child. As to the battle, though Turkey did in fact take the ELDYK base, I not only stated that but also his source about the Greek soldiers being ambushed is not only unsupported by any other source, but his only source which is in Turkish (I dont know Turkish), is a pdf thats over 500 pages long and he does not specify where exactly it is in said pdf so I wouldnt know where to translate. Also I dont believe it would make it a partial victory for Turkey as their objective was the capture of the suburb not just one building in said suburb.
