Thanks for the explanation. You may want to add an explanation of what you are up to. Even better would be creatiung a new sandbox page, like User:Sinafe/sandbox2. - Ahunt (talk) 22:50, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is not the appropriate way to do this. I'll move the page to your sandbox where you can do this. - UtherSRG (talk) 21:52, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nevermind... you already have something in your sandbox. You'll have to find another way to do this. - UtherSRG (talk) 21:54, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You could just create a User:Sinafe/sandbox2. - Ahunt (talk) 22:52, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Interwiki or interlanguage templates, how to do?

[edit]

Please help me with... Hi, I'm trying to translate some pages to my language. There are some Templates which I don't intend to translate at this moment: "https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Template:Magic_word_templates/book_page_examples" for example. since it's an example table and translation makes no difference. How can I use EN template in same wikiproject. The better question is "How can I use any template in any other project/language"?

Thank you in advance Sinafe (talk) 04:48, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Some, I'd say most important, templates are already translated; you just have to find what they've been translated to.
Others are not and you have only a few choices: 1) try to translate the template yourself, which isn't always possible because of interlocking dependencies, 2) leave the template untranslated so it shows as a red missing template, not too terrible if you have a work-in-progress, or 3) omit the template for now, waiting for the project to eventually come up with an 'official' translation.
You may be able to call on your own translation of a template by placing its translation in your own user space. This starts to look sketchy for an article, but may be okay for other contexts. And it starts to be impractical for complicated templates that have a web of dependencies.
But that template you mentioned is from a different project than English Wikipedia; I suspect there are many template differences between wikibooks and enwiki. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 05:16, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
