Orphaned non-free media (File:Nightmare_-_Avenged_Sevenfold.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Nightmare_-_Avenged_Sevenfold.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 23:48, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I have mentioned you at the above page under the thread entitled "User:David1287 and Billboard charts". Nothing sinister, I merely spotted you and User:David1287 both editing similar articles and wondered if you knew each other, or came from the same place or forum. Feel free to respond there. Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Nightmare (album). When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. You are suspected of sockpuppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. Please make yourself familiar with the notes for the suspect, then respond to the evidence at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/David1287. Thank you. SGGH ping! 08:58, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Mutiny Within in 2010.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Mutiny Within in 2010.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Armbrust Talk Contribs 15:58, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Constant Motion

[edit]

Hi there, Hold on for a bit; the content has been deleted per the Afd and both Constant Motion and Constant Motion (song) should redirect to the parent article. If you disagree with the result of the AfD, you should try WP:DRV to get it overturned. Just pasting over redirects will look like vandalism and will end up getting you blocked if you keep at it. Cheers, --AndrewHowse (talk) 18:46, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the warning, pal. It's a shame they deleted the article, when I could have gave it maintenance. I'll give it a try for sure, thanks a lot. --Sirius 128 (talk) 18:49, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No prob. Better to work within the system, usually. LMK if I can help with the process. --AndrewHowse (talk) 18:51, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've moved your request from to Constant Motion prefix:Wikipedia:Deletion review to Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2011_March_30#30_March_2011. Shire Reeve (talk) 19:15, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited The Bad Touch, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Electronic (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Burnin'

[edit]

Burnin' is an instrumental track. Therefore it is not a "song" which must have vocals.—Ryulong (琉竜) 08:38, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies, I wasn't aware of that. But do you know in what article of Wikipedia can I see some guide of making articles with the correct disambiguation? Like in music articles, to name them "X (album)", "X (song)", etc. Thanks in advance! ~Sirius128 00:44, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, songs have to be sung, which requires a vocal accompanyment. There's naming rules here.—Ryulong (琉竜) 04:50, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sourcing

[edit]

Okay, Sirius, you really need to reevaluate what you do and do not consider as reliable sources. You keep accepting crap like Dubstep.net or DoAndroidsDance and those should not be valid. Meanwhile, you throw out references to the YouTube Collaborators videos because they're on YouTube when they're the videos that Daft Punk is embedding on their actual website. I'm removing the dubstep.net and excite.ca (or whatever it was) references and replacing them with the YouTube links, as they are reliable sources and we don't need to use some other website that embeds them just to discuss them.—Ryulong (琉竜) 03:09, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You are so sure about that? 'Cause I'm trying to implement an article that will still be available for the future, in case that those videos are removed from YouTube, there will still be a small mention about what was in the video. And the other reason I was also doing it, was because I can't stand just watching a reference with a bare URL just there saying http://www.youtube.com/watch?whatever. I like seeing a well cited reference, with dates, writers, publishers, and all of that good stuff that make Wikipedia what it is. ~Sirius128 03:53, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What I want to do is to cite these episodes from other sources than YouTube. Like the third episode with Nile Rodgers, Rolling Stone talked about it. We should find reliable sources like that, not just YouTube, you know? ~Sirius128 04:00, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Rolling Stone just summarized the video like we're doing in the article anyway. And the links to the other websites were falsely summarizing what Edwards said. It's best just to link directly to the videos as they are valid sources.—Ryulong (琉竜) 05:08, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Also it's annoying as hell for you to take a conversation just between the two of us and make it into a whole talk page thread.—Ryulong (琉竜) 05:09, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sirius 128, stop changing the sources on this article away from the YouTube sources. They are the official uploads and there is nothing wrong with them. We do not need to use the articles on Rolling Stone.—Ryulong (琉竜) 10:43, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why not leave both of them? ~Sirius128 21:08, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Nile Rodgers in Random Access Memories sessions (2013).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Nile Rodgers in Random Access Memories sessions (2013).jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 03:46, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Pharrell Williams in The Collaborators.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Pharrell Williams in ''The Collaborators''.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Ryulong (琉竜) 17:50, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
