The article Ruben Canelo has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. ~~EBE123~~ talkContribs 12:51, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ruben Canelo

[edit]

Hi there!

Thanks for creating this biography of a living person. I started to copy edit the article but I see you have reinstated your original version without explanation. Let me explain what I see as the major problems with the article as it stands.

The publications list, running to over 150 entries, gives way too much weight to his published works and does not add anything of an encyclopaedic nature to the content of the article. Were you to keep even a small selection of the works, the format of the entries needs to be edited - see WP:CITE for guidelines and suitable templates.

With one exception, the webpages cited in the "references" section are domain names, ie generic home pages. References should relate directly to the article's subject. Furthermore, references in the Wikipedia context are used to support specific claims made in the article; see WP:CITE - inline references. If you use inline refs the reference list will create itself automatically in response to the <references /> tag, see WP:Referencing for beginners.

Supporting references are particulary important where biogs of living people are concerned, that's why Wikipedia has a policy on the subject.

The change I made to the opening words - dropping the title and placing the subject's name in bold text - are standard style aspects, see WP:MOS.

It may be an idea to take a look at some other biographies to get a better idea of the standard look and feel.

Please don't take any of this as criticism, we're here to help you make this a good article.
