March 2008[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Richard Jones. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Hi there and welcome to Wikipedia. I notice that you took the date of birth off a particular person twice now. Is there a reason you're doing that? The date is already listed in his Who's Who entry (unless someone got the date wrong at some point, I don't have the book on me right now to check), so I don't believe that this is a privacy issue. Can you let me know what concerns you have over the date? Thanks. Shell babelfish 13:10, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello - this is going to be my last attempt at communicating with you. You've now claimed that you're deleting a subjects birth year at that subject's request. Wikipedia does not remove verified items, such as a birth year, for that reason. Please do not remove it again or you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. If the subject has concerns about the short mention on the page you're removing the date from, please have him contact our volunteers at [email protected] who can look at any issues he may have. Thanks. Shell babelfish 13:31, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First, that's not his entry, that's a disambiguation page which leads to many Richard Jones. Second, no, its not and its highly disappointing to see that you went and removed it again before even contacting me despite numerous attempts to correspond. If there is a reason for Mr. Jones to feel the year of his birth needs to be deleted, he may wish to contact [email protected] to discuss his concerns. Both references for Mr. Jones article, the The Oxford Dictionary of Opera and Who's Who in British Opera, give his full date of birth, so as far as I can tell, Wikipedia simply repeating information that has already been published.

Please handle this through the proper channels; any further removals will result in a loss of editing privileges for this account. Thanks. Shell babelfish 01:10, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
