Copyrighted information removed

[edit]

Tedakaemod, I hope you understand that Wikipedia has strict rules about copyrights. Almost all of the content in the draft articles on your userpage and your talk page and in your sandbox were a copy-and-paste of the text from www.biglohiphop.com/band_bio/. At the bottom of that page, it clearly states, "© 2013 BigLoHipHop.com. All Rights Reserved." Unless biglohiphop.com releases the text of their website under a license compatible with Wikipedia content, it may not be used in Wikipedia.

As a new editor here in Wikipedia, take a bit of time to learn about the process of creating an article and the rules. I will add a welcome template with links to some helpful information. Please read it. If you have questions, the Teahouse is a good place to get quick and clear answers. Be very careful about violating copyright rules. If you do so too often, you are likely to get blocked from editing.

Sorry to make your introduction to Wikipedia difficult but respecting copyright is the law, not just a Wikipedia rule. I hope you will stay around and learn. BigLo may be notable enough to deserve an article in Wikipedia. Researching reliable sources and developing an article may become a rewarding challenge. For now, take care. Speedy deletion nomination of Big lo

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Big lo requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. FrankDev (talk) 00:39, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Speedy at Big lo

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for taking the time to contribute.

I'm a bot designed by another Wikipedia editor, and I'm here to help you with our deletion process. I noticed that while working on an article recently, you removed a speedy deletion template that tagged it for deletion. Don't get discouraged! Deletion discussions happen on Wikipedia all the time.

If you don't want the article to get deleted, please click here.

The link will take you to the talk page, where you can explain why the article should be kept. If you have any questions about this or need help with editing, you can ask at the Help desk.

We really hope you'll stick around to help make Wikipedia better! Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 00:41, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Big lo

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Big lo requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. The article BIG LO has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. It's a Fox! This is an automated message from VWBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of BIG LO, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.biglohiphop.com/band_bio/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) VWBot (talk) 20:44, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop

[edit]

You have repeatedly recreated the BIG LO article (first under the title Big lo), so many times that the original title was salted, forcing you to recreate the article at an alternate title. Such behavior indicates that you do not have any regard for Wikipedia's copyright violation policies. Continued recreation of this page will be reported as vandalism, and may result in loss of editing privileges. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:49, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

Contributing copyrighted material

[edit]

You contested the deletion of BIG LO claiming that you have the artist's permission to create a Wikipedia page for him. There are several issues here:

  1. If you are editing on behalf of a friend or client, you have a conflict of interest. You should review the relevant guidelines before proceeding.
  2. You may not simply say "I have permission". We have no way of knowing if that is true. There is a proper process to donate copyrighted material, but it is almost never worth the effort, because:
    1. The artist's page is intentionally promotional. (Why else would he pay good money to have the page developed and hosted?) However, Wikipedia's purpose is specifically to be non-promotional, so the text at the artist's page would be inappropriate whether or not the copyright issue is resolved.
    2. All material at Wikipedia (and this is especially true for biographies of living people) must be verifiable, generally by citing reliable sources. The artist's own website is not a reliable source.
    3. All subjects at Wikipedia must meet the criteria for inclusion. There is a specific set of criteria for musicians. Big Lo does not appear to meet these criteria, so even if the copyright and promotion issues could be dealt with, there would still be this notability problem.

Overall, I would simply drop the idea of trying to create this article. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:43, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
