Page moves
[edit]I see that you are in the process of moving a bunch pages about Vietnamese places to new titles based on their "English language names". On what basis are you doing this. WP:UE states that, in the absence of any clear predominance of English sources preferring a particular English language variant of a foreign name, the original foreign language name should be used. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:01, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
- Look up any of these places on http://en.baomoi.com/Source/VietnamNet-English/114.epi. TenMuses (talk) 15:12, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
- OK. Thanks for the quick reply. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:26, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
TenMuses, you are moving Vietnam articles counter the majority of recent RfC. Please contact an admin to revert your moves, and if you wish to propose moves submit them through the WP:RM process. In ictu oculi (talk) 14:59, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
Editing redirects to lock undiscussed moves
[edit]Hello, I should mention that coming straight into en.wp with the skill to do a Redirect edit with HotCat is quite unusual and suggests that you have already significant editing experience. Which means that you should be aware that edits which lock undiscussed controversial moves like this are considered disruptive. Other editors who have attempted in this way to lock moves in the past have been blocked.
Please contact an admin to revert your moves, starting with the most recent:
- Sông Công (added Category:Redirects to titles with ASCII using HotCat) (current)
Thank you. In ictu oculi (talk) 15:14, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
- I have to agree with In ictu oculi that your moves of articles with Vietnamese titles raise some concerns. It would be helpful if you would give us some kind of explanation of your overall goals in making these article moves. Locking moves to make them more difficult to undo suggests that you are experienced with Wikipedia and know what is going on. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 17:38, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
- And why on earth did you only target Vietnamese names? What about those European names such as Ísafjörður, Călărași County, Székesfehérvár??????? ༆ (talk) 19:08, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
Please stop
[edit]Deliberately editing a redirect to stop others reverting your moves is a Bad Thing. You should stop that now. Considering the controversy over the moves (are they going the opposite way from a recent RfC?), perhaps it would be better to replace the unilateral approach with WP:RM. bobrayner (talk) 21:23, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
- Hello TenMuses. If you don't stop your mass campaign of moving Vietnamese articles to non-diacritic names you may be blocked for disruption. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 01:46, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
Requested move discussions
[edit]FYI. There are two requested move discussions taking place (at Talk:Song Cong and Talk:Mac Tuyen Tong) that relate to past moves you made.-Labattblueboy (talk) 20:07, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
