Your sig

While your signature does not violate the length guidelines (as it is less than 255 characters), it is rather redundant:

<span style="color:#A04652"><b>The</b></span><span style="color:#A00952" ><b>Le</b></span><span style="color:#AD5160"><b>ft</b></span><span style="color:#C15563"><b>orium</b></span>

A smaller, and less disruptive set-up, like so:

<b><span style="color:#A04652">The<span style="color:#A00952">Le<span style="color:#AD5160">ft<span style="color:#C15563">orium</b></span>

By simply removing the excess closing font tags and placing the bold tags around the entire thing, we've managed to free up 44 more characters, that much less for editors to have to sift through ^.~

And note, the two appear exactly the same: Your current signature:

TheLeftorium

And the one I proposed:

TheLeftorium

I'm not trying to force you to change it or anything, I'm just showing that it could be made smaller with some ease, and it makes it a little less of a burden on editors trying to add comments on talk pages. ~九尾の氷狐~ (Sumimasen! Dochira samaka?) 18:08, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

"Invalid raw signature. Check HTML tags." That's strange, try what it says now, I updated it... Maybe my understanding of the raw signature feature is limited, so the <b> tags may be interfering with it... I'm not entirely sure... anyway, if that one doesn't work either, then it doesn't matter. As I previously stated, you are entirely within the guide-lines. ~九尾の氷狐~ (Sumimasen! Dochira samaka?) 18:40, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Ah, well I guess wikipedia doesn't like having multiple tags closed with one. Oh well, that's why I substitute a template for my sig, don't have to worry about stuff like that :P
Well I'll get on to OGG-ifying that video here soon, thanks for the support! ~九尾の氷狐~ (「Sumimasen!」 「Dochira samaka?」) 18:53, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Friends

Thank you so much for finding those references (as you can see, I have no idea how to use NewsBank); I almost killed myself searching for them and still found nothing. Do you think you'll be able to find those last two numbers? Anyways, what's up with "The Last One (Friends)"? I think it's time to nominate it, unless there are some issues I am unaware of. :) Corn.u.co.piaDisc.us.sion 23:26, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the welcome, but I've been on the welcoming committee since 2005, or perhaps earlier, myself.
  • I think you need to check out exactly who's got the time and seniority... which is why brash immature new editors, perhaps like yourself sometimes get an earful from me. Such young or foolish people, that in general, haven't the breadth and depth of experience to know when an rule is a good rule, and when to let well enough alone... costing many their free time picking up after heir unnecessarily rules oriented immature decisions. Trashing a well put together series is not progress for the project, especially not when notability was ramrodded through and is so controversial itself. But perhaps you like pissing off people that contribute tens and hundreds of man-hours.

BTW -- being an American, I insist on free speech and will be rude when its for the good of the project to whom I please. If I make you feel bad, you probably have your head up your ass in some way. So what is your specific gripe. // FrankB 16:34, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Why are you deleting the synopses I've been busting ass the last two months to put together??? Didn't you see the INUSE??? Stop unformatting the condensed upper two sections... such tricks are common enough in a lot of pages to get unwanted whitespace under control. // FrankB 16:01, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Well that shows you how easy it is to overlook the link, doesn't it. Warn a guy... would ya. Apologies, my bad. This is probably a good way to go, but you really should have inquired whether I was still in the page! (Turns out I'd closed that tab, so no harm done, save for time lost ... and a certain rise to the bloodpressure. Ahem <g>)
Thanks for the speedy response. // FrankB 16:16, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Good job on the distilled seasons table, I like the alternating colors. Are you also concurrently changing the 22+ redirects to reach the proper subpage? I'd dreaded doing that for the eleven in each half season, much less all the name permutations for 22 per year. Yikes!!! See ya! // FrankB 16:23, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
It occurs to me your table will allow sectioning the subpages with their own TOC indexing... so can direct the redirects to the pertinent section, so to speak. Thoughts on that? // FrankB 16:25, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Working together

Thanks for that. My pleasure, but aside from the heart, go ahead and evolve it in place if you like... I'm trying to process recorded episodes in seasons 1-4, mainly 2 and 3 I think, so I'll be in those subpages. The thing that got me was there deinclusion! (Oh My!) For your further Info, I don't use a watchlist, so ping me if there is a talk page I should see and answer. Thanks. // FrankB 16:29, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

I should really take some time someday and learn it. See R to Charmed for when running it. Might be sensible to create a template replacement that links to each title as the section. I can do that, so you can fly it faster. Just need some logic like I built into Chrmd to swap out " (Charmed episode)" and such... no hurry to make those improvements. I'd prefer seeing a improved season or three in place then increasing the page traffic. // FrankB 16:38, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Whatever works easiest. Don't know AWB's features, especially search and replace capabilities. The issue is that so many titles are aliased in various permutations, so any episode may have multiple redirects. I'm pretty good at templates, if it helps. // FrankB 16:56, 21 January 2009 (UTC)OK
Prelim look here, says sections oriented list pages will need a modified format... probably a slightly modified template. Note how the episode table elements are both BELOW the (actually interleaved properly) section titles just added as you last rang my bell... See this diff. I'm open to input on the episodes lists of co-stars, guest stars, special guest stars and credited actors... Not really happy with how any are displaying using also starring. Any thoughts on looking over the various permutations I've put together thus far? (Do think the co-stars should just appear in the "about Season nn section... and perhaps the Special Guest Starz too, like Grams, Patty, Victor. Thoughts and advice??? // FrankB 17:18, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
I was thinking more along the lines of keeping sections to a minimum, and relegating them to also starring means I can morph that to be an infobox any time later... which is the way I'm thinking this should go... Sidebar presentations are useful. // FrankB 18:29, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

How's this look

Got the edit tags to behave and believe the second format to be attractive enough to go with as shown here, what do you think? (I'll leave the page alone for a while, so you can check out the edit links behavior on the current version) // FrankB 18:56, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

It's not centered in the least... suspect you're just seeing an optical effect in that I tableized to stabilize the edit links using fixHTML... which expects to right float. So an interaction with your browser that differs from what I'm seeing in Firefox. The page header section created table will bound things that way on the actual page... I need to make a correction to the text error in that first section, then I'll port them both over and we can look again. Will be a while, however, have to go off again and tend again to RL for a bit. // FrankB 19:28, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
OK... :Now compare the top section vs zee bottom here... good to go? // FrankB 22:05, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Good evening, or whatever... check my contribs and see sequential section changes (season 2, I think) for making those themselves... AWB should make it a snap. // FrankB 14:40, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

You got DVDs?

Particularly, Season 3's? see [[user talk:Fabartus#Charmed [Again]|Charmed [Again] (here)]]. When you gonna get to the next table??? // FrankB 00:12, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Charmed Episode Tables

Hey, I fixed up season 3 table (as you may know), would you like to do the rest yourself or do you not mind me pitching in... Pic Editor960 (talk) 11:15, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

kk well it's gonna take ALOT of work to do this, as i am also meant to be doing the main article for seasons aswell (mainly season 3) lol. If you could do season four or atleast half of it that would be great because i'm in the middle of doing something else :S, also i dont know how to get the light colours for each season eg. #D3..., could you supply me with them? Pic Editor960 (talk) 11:21, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Tell me what you think of the edit i made to Charmed (season 1) under series sypnosis. Pic Editor960 (talk) 11:40, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Oh i know but im fixing that at the end, can you undo all my changes as it wont let me (to charmed season 1) i need all the episodes back... :( Pic Editor960 (talk) 12:52, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Never knew that lol, thank you, i will leave you so you can get your homework done. Pic Editor960 (talk) 13:01, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Finally Finished the season 1 table on Charmed (season 1) what you think? Pic Editor960 (talk) 16:22, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks lol, i'm going to leave the season pages for a while and finish off the list of episodes page...when you can help please do lol. :L:L Pic Editor960 (talk) 16:35, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm so pissed off i was fixing up season 2 table and i got to like episode 17 after 1 1/2 hours fixing it up and i accidentally closed the window :@:@Pic Editor960 (talk) 18:02, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
HELP!!!!,,, look...Charmed (season 2)Pic Editor960 (talk) 21:31, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Christ on a crutch... he's undone the sections we've been adding! I asked him to take it slow, dammit. // FrankB 14:38, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
Why did you sign off on this in effect? by accepting sectionless formatting. What're the redirects going to link into now? // FrankB 14:54, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Oh snap

Sigh. Guess I picked a bad day to take a wikibreak...
Snap? (That a new kinda swear??? <g>)
Well, old fashioned manual changes have been working fine... see Charmed episodes for progress in the handful I've tried (and also tagged with R to Charmed), so your AWB skills are just misfiring a bit. The redirects work fine and go right to the sections as they should. // FrankB 16:40, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

btw

  1. It is way more convenient to edit and maintain the pages with the sectionalized tables.
  2. One doesn't get the format errors he created in Season 2 (I just reverted-he changed colors too for some reason) since you can edit in small pieces.
  3. On uniformity and formatting... Think the TV episode infoboxes I experimentally copied into several sections (Speedy, convenient cut and pastes from the stand alone article pages now a redirect) should be eliminated and replaced with also starring, even when and where I landed such...
        • The wider format suits any article with short blurbs instead of the mid to long synopses I favor. Both can take an image, and the format of Actor/ress Name as character format has much more space and gives a much cleaner, clearer way of keeping the text simple following. Also helps keep things so aren't fielding "too In-Universe" complaints on the prose.
  4. Is there, was there a project page for this series???
  5. ttfn, I'll be here for a while today. // FrankB 16:53, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Another need...

Any assistance fleshing out List_of_Charmed_characters page would be a good short burst kind of effort you can tackle easily with small impact on schoolwork. All the bluelinks using chrmdchar need followed, checked and vetted, as it's structure lies since it connects to sections like there and There2. // FrankB 22:14, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Request

Hi Lefty, could you do me a favour and listen to the commentary for Simpsons Roasting? I don't have access to my DVDs right now and I need you to verify whether or not Silverman says Rich Moore designed Flanders for the episode. A user is insisting it is true that Moore designed Flanders (I'll give you 3 guesses as to who is the one insisting it's true, here's a hint) but that doesn't sound right to me, namely because that wasn't the first ep produced that Flanders appeared in, but also because storyboarders don't design characters (and, back when I was first listening to the commentary, that seems like the kind of thing I would have picked up, although I guess it's possible I missed it, but I have listened to that one many times and I don't remember it being said). Probably what is said is something along the lines of "Moore designed some new characters" or "Moore storyboarded this and updated some designs" and the user misinterpreted it. -- Scorpion0422 18:26, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

BTW, Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates/The Simpsons (season 6). The last GAC passed, and I figured you wouldn't mind if I did the nom (after all, adding templates to 26 pages is not exactly fun). Here's to season 7. -- Scorpion0422 19:08, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Okay, thanks. So it was partially true, but the way it was worded was incorrect. I have fixed it. -- Scorpion0422 19:41, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Sourcing Viewer sections

Hi there. For the past little while, I have been working on Burn Notice (season 1) and Burn Notice (season 2). I was recently trying to source the Number of Viewers section, which had existed with information, but without sources, for a while now. I had been able to get a large portion of them with the Nielsen website, but their archives stop before when I need them. Cornucopia told me that you have access to NewsBank, so I was wondering if you could possible help me out.

Thanks, NuclearWarfare (Talk) 16:03, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

NBD, but... why trim out the edit vspacing? They don't and won't affect the tables and make things far easier to see and edit.

Also, not as gone as I thought... can't quite leave things so in transistion without someone else aiding the regular work.

  • Perhaps most importantly did you and whomever come to some kind of consensus and plan on the tables titles font colors? Some are dark, others are white. I'm about to save my pending fix in season 4 where I also converted that to white and then realized how inconsistent the standard in place is... so what's the deal on that? // FrankB 13:53, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Happen to have any production information for Homer's Barbershop Quartet, from the DVD, etc. that I could work with to get things started on the article? :) Gary King (talk) 16:09, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the expansion. Anything else? Because, the prose is now at 6 kb, and I'd like to bring it up to 10 kb if possible. Also, which, if any, of the cultural references should be kept? Gary King (talk) 23:27, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Why didn't you look at the Pete Best page? As any moron knows, the Barbershop Quartet episode is largely mirrored after the Beatles. Are you going to make me get the 2 references I need? Pete Best was kicked out of the Beatles before fame. Clancy Wiggum was kicked out of the Be Sharps before fame. In real life fans of Best showed up at gigs and chanted "Pete for ever Ringo Never" and vice versa, in the Barbershop episode the fans chant "Barney for ever, Wiggum never" and vice versa. I'm reverting the edit now. If you care so much so called Simpsons fan, then read about Pete Best and the many similarities between the plot of this episode and the Beatles and then stop destroying accuracy. The new dawn brings the fresh sorrows of man, bleached, weathered and unreturned. (talk) 14:49, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Are you sure Best wasn't mentioned in the commentary? I think he might have been. -- Scorpion0422 15:22, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, he is briefly mentioned. As well, if you're looking for stuff, there are comments about the episode in the commentary for All Singing, All Dancing (but I'm not sure if they are things not mentioned in the HBQ commentary). -- Scorpion0422 15:36, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
I just saw this now, and have responded at here. Gary King (talk) 22:01, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Left, I see you're on vacation, but when you get back, could you take a look at this? Thanks in advance! Gary King (talk) 22:22, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Userbox for GA reviews

The userbox User Good Articles reviewed has been updated so that it can now link to a page in your user subspace where you keep track of all your GA reviews, if you have such a page. This can be done by adding a | and then the name of your user subpage (or subsection of your regular user page) wherever you have the template called. For example, on my user page I am using

6

which displays as

This user has reviewed 6 Good Article nominations on Wikipedia.

There is more information on how to do this at Template:User Good Articles reviewed.

Note: If you are not interested in doing this, you don't have to do anything; the template will still work for you exactly as it does now.

Yeah, there is a chapter in there about Ernest Borgnine. I don't have my book with me at the moment (plus I have my hands full with tedious stats) so I'll take a look tonight and add what I can. -- Scorpion0422 18:16, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Treehouse of Horror IV

I've reviewed Treehouse of Horror IV, so please take a look at your earliest convenience. In fact, I think I'm also going to review your other Simpsons episodes and "The Last One" from Friends while I'm at it, so I'll let you know when I'm done with those too. --Hunter Kahn (talk) 01:51, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the Barnstar, man! It wasn't necessary, but very much appreciated! As you probably saw, I reviewed Homer Loves Flanders, and have already gone ahead and passed Sweet Seymour Skinner's Baadasssss Song. I'll try to get to The Last One (Friends) tonight if somebody doesn't take it before me. --Hunter Kahn (talk) 13:55, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
--Hunter Kahn (talk) 21:28, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Passed The Last One (Friends) as well. Nice! --Hunter Kahn (talk) 22:39, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Just so you know, I also passed Boy-Scoutz n the Hood and Lady Bouvier's Lover. Always a pleasure! lol --Hunter Kahn (talk) 01:28, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Question about Ratings

Hey Leftorium. I figured you could answer this question for me, since you had this info in all your Simpsons articles. How can I find the weekly ratings from the week a specific episode aired? For example, I'd like to improve this specific Law & Order episode to GA status, but it aired on November 28, 2006 and I don't know how to find the ratings for it from that week. Can you help? --Hunter Kahn (talk) 15:55, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey!

You're another person who commented on my Pokemon Platinum question! I've been online typing thank-yous to everyone who answered any of my questions. Thank you, dude! You rock! <(^_^)> Pokegeek42 (talk) 00:58, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

$pringfield GA

Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I am glad to be reviewing the article $pringfield (Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Legalized Gambling) you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to several days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Admiral Norton (talk) 22:59, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

The article is placed on hold awaiting the fixing of some minor issues. Admiral Norton (talk) 18:21, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Rebuild of Evangelion revert warring

The concerned user has removed all the discussion (including my message) so I'm writing it back because it is valuable information about the nature of this user's actions:

I just wanted to draw your attention on the fact that user "Arison Hiyama" (ie the numerous IPs from Brazil that has recently edited the Rebuild of Evangelion articles) went as far as to vandalise the japanese wikipedia pages by adding herself the totally fake and ridiculous budgets she tries to include into the english articles (so that she could use it as a "proof"). I think this is going further than mere beginner mistakes and we should do something instead of just repeating our warnings each time she changes IP.Folken de Fanel (talk) 22:07, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

For providing what is officially the fastest GAN review I've ever seen with Weeping Willow (Law & Order: Criminal Intent). Thanks! — Hunter Kahn (contribs) 03:18, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey Leftorium, it's Hunter, the guy who reviewed a bunch of your Simpsons GANs. I just nominated a TV episode for GAN myself, Weeping Willow (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) (maybe you remember I had asked you about ratings while I was working on it), and I was wondering if perhaps you wouldn't mind reviewing it for me? (I also have plans to nominate The Ring (South Park) pretty soon, but want to wait for Nielsen Ratings information before I do that one.) Let me know if you're able to. Thanks! — Hunter Kahn (contribs) 07:11, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

The Coon

Hey man. So I've nominated The Coon, the next South Park episode, for a GAN. I wasn't going to ask you to review it because I didn't want to bother you fresh off your reviews from last week, but I was hoping to see if you wouldn't mind reviewing this one just one more time, mainly because I wanted to ask the reviewer to weigh in on one particular issue. Another user removed some stuff from "Cultural references" that I feel should be included. I told that user I was adding it back and would ask the GAN reviewer to give it an honest, neutral assessment, and if they felt it should be taken out then I'd leave the issue alone. Would you mind reviewing this one and checking out that issue in particular for me? Again, I hate to bother you and if it's not too much trouble, I'd be very much appreciate. (Also, I'd be happy to review Bart Gets an Elephant for you, probably in the next day or two...) Thanks either way! — Hunter Kahn (contribs) 05:38, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

The Simpsons GACs

I was wondering if you are still interested in getting episodes up to GA quality? here is the main FT drive page. Let me know, if you wanna work on more! CTJF83Talk 08:11, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

We could work on some season 5 episodes together. Do you still use IRC? CTJF83Talk 23:52, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
2 sounds good to me! CTJF83Talk 21:59, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Phil Hartman

Thanks! Let's see if it can be TFA on May 28, although, on seconds thoughts, I hate having TFAs and McClure page was actually on that date last year... oh well. Also, as you're still written episode GAs, feel free to do Homer and Apu. I honestly don't have time regularly for any projects here right now, and when I do I'll be working on something else.
