Your draft article, Draft:Kieran McLoughlin

[edit]

Hello Thurles2. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Kieran McLoughlin".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by one of two methods (don't do both): 1) follow the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13, or 2) copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Draft:Kieran McLoughlin}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, and click "Save page". An administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 14:00, 10 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Doug Weller. I noticed that you made one or more changes to an article, IrishCentral, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Doug Weller talk 18:25, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

IrishCentral - we can't use a 9 year old source for statistics or size

[edit]

Please don't reinstate it, it obviously isn't appropriate. Doug Weller talk 19:18, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest discussion

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion

[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. Thank you. Please don't take this personally. I have nothing against IrishCentral and am sure that it could become a much better article then it has ever been. But you need to follow our policies and guidelines that apply to our articles and our guidance for connected editors. Doug Weller talk 13:24, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You turned IrishCentral into an unreadable mess and deleted sourced text

[edit]

you don't seem capable enough to add citations. These is no justification I can think of for deleting the text about Casey's sale of her publications. A "mention" isn't worthy of inclusion. And then there's conflict of interest and you havent joined in the discussion. Doug Weller talk 06:22, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

i hadn't seen that when I wrote the above. You really need to use the Preview button or at least look at a page after you edit it. Perhaps you just aren't competent enough to edit here. Doug Weller talk 06:25, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Thurles2. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article IrishCentral, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Doug Weller talk 06:25, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any relationship of any kind with IrishCentrall?

[edit]

Failure to answer this clearly will likely get you blocked as a violation of our policy on paid editing. Doug Weller talk 06:27, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Niall O'Dowd biography: Incorrect and hostile information entered into my biography

[edit]

I discussed this with a volunteer this am who was helpful.The person who entered the edit gave an Irish language handle that literally means "Man without a name" I am accused of being a racist, after 25 years working with many ethnic groups on immigration reform.I recently consulted with the Haitian News newspaper in NYC on how to improve their publication. I am proud to have hired African American employees.I am accused of being an unofficial mouthpiece for the IRA which is ridiculous and dangerous and I am attacked by an anti-Irish immigrant woman. Here is some of what I said and your volunteer's response

Niall O'Dowd <niall@irishcentral.com> 8:45 AM (8 hours ago) to me

[08:17] <Thomond> the people quoted in this new version are Ed Moloney an implacable enemy of the Irish peace process as he wanted the mayhem to continue and he deeply resented my work. 2, Liam Hogan a man with no academic credentials whatever even though he tries to invent them and Trina Vargo an outspoken critic of migrants from Ireland
[08:19] <Thomond> Its like asking Donald Trump his opinion of Hillary Clinton and then presenting it as authoritative
[08:19] <@slakr> right; those are editorial problems. It's quite likely unacceptable if the sources are that severely biased, but that's a decision that's made via research and in-depth knowledge of the topic, which isn't clear-cut defamatory issues
[08:20] <Thomond> so what can i do short of trying to remove my page which Ii hate to do but I am not recognizable in this new and very damaging portrayal of me
[08:21] <Thomond> can I add the following paragraphs were inserted by and say known biased sources ?
[08:22] <@slakr> I think the main thing is that several of those sections/issues are probably inappropriate to have on the BLP unless they're directly covering you

@Slakr: I presume this took place on one of our irc channels? No comment on the issue at the moment, but as this editor, although not answering my question above about paid editing, is obviously a paid editor not complying with our policy, I'm considering blocking him. This was also on the Help Desk where there were additional responses about actions you should and should not take.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 15:46, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Doug Weller: I was up late, but iirc, he claimed to be the article subject himself. This was in #wikipedia-en-revdel, where he was asking for deletion of revisions (or maybe he was asking for deletion of the content but misunderstood as deletion of revisions). Anyway, I basically was responding that the problems weren't obviously revdel-worthy to me (i.e., not obvious defamation) but were likely more issues related to editorial issues / NPOV / RS etc... (e.g., some of the content consisted of opinion blogs of random people talking about something that appeared on a site he's involved with rather than directly discussing the person or chunks that seemed otherwise OR-y at the time). I dunno about the current state; I didn't really have time or energy to care beyond that and pointed him toward the article's talk page, BLPN, (maybe also ANI?), and OTRS while also advising him of the COI policy and strongly recommending he not edit the article himself. --slakrtalk / 01:24, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
