Please explain what part of the source demands the use of "probable" and not "possible".

It is also no part of my business to counter your impressions of police infallibility or the extent of powers you attribute to them. These are your understandings as you have come to know them. I would encourage you, however, to consider more deeply the basis for your impressions and to be open to a broader awareness of Victorian policing practice and history.
