Help me!

[edit]

I am the son of the Canadian author Cassie Deveaux Cohoon, who was a researcher and novelist most interested in the history of Acadia and the lives of the women of Acadia.

Cassie passed away this past year, and I was hoping to add a small article to Wikipedia. Just a short description/timeline of her research and novels.

Cassie Deveaux Cohoon is mentioned in article on Jeanne Dugas, which would provide a convenient link (her major work is a well researched fictional account of Jeanne Dugas' life).

Of course, as her son, I would be adding an article on a family member - would this be allowable, with perhaps some disclosure on the talk page?

Thanks

It sounds like you have a good sense of our conflict of interest (COI) policies, which is great! I suggest you skim or read through WP:YFA, and then use the Article wizard to create a draft that will be reviewed by experienced editors after submission. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 20:49, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I was just doing some further checking of citations for the Cohoon article and noticed from an obituary that she had a son named Tim Deveaux. Are you her son? If you are, you have a conflict of interest in writing about her. If there is anything else you'd like to add to her article I suggest you post on the talk page of the article and state your conflict of interest, and other editors will edit the article. Also, condolences on the loss of your mother last year. MurielMary (talk) 09:54, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou MurielMary - for accepting the article and for your edits. And yes, you are correct in that I am the author's son. I submitted the article realising my conflict of interest and trying to keep things as simple and factual as possible - I'll use the talk page as you suggest in future - thank you again for your approval and condolences - Timdevue (talk) 18:54, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oops - just noticed a small typo - 'Biographay' - I think I'll take the liberty of fixing that - thank you again Timdevue (talk) 19:03, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
