User talk:Vtw-en
Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Valaistourism) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.
There are two issues with this:
- It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
- Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.
Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. The article in question is Valais. Thank you.
Hello,
I just requested a username change. I also modified the text of the Valais-page.

Hi Valaistourism, and thank you for your feedback. You should probaly start with the username policy and conflict of interest guidelines, since these are both very pertinent to your situation (in fact your current username is liable to get you blocked very shortly; I strongly recommend you request a change of username immediately).

Hello Yunshui,
Thanks a lot for your answer. It's a bit clearer now but how could I change my username ? Valais Tourisme is not a society with lucrative-goal, it's the touristique area representative. The only goal we want to reach is to introduce correct informations into the Valais (wich is the name of the area) Wiki. But, we only want to modifiy the "Toursim" part, that's it. I didn't cancel or delete stuff in other section. But for the tourism part, we are the main actor and must be allowed to modify some wrong sentences.
Sorry about it, I don't want to make you waste your time, I just want to use Wikipedia correctly and respectfuly.
Thank you in advance.
Ronny Perraudin
- Hi Ronny. Not a waste of my time at all; helping other editors is always worthwhile. To request a change of name go here; just follow the instructions. It's also important to note that your account should only represent one person - accounts with multiple users are not permitted, because of the need for Wikipedia content to be attributable (at least theoretically) to individual editors. More information on usernames can be found here.
- The other problem you may potentially have is a conflict of interest. Editors are discouraged - strongly - from editing subject areas with which they have a close connection. Whilst most of your edits have been fairly innocuous, you need to be very careful to maintain a balanced and encyclopedic tone. That's not to say you can't edit the Valais article, but if you add anything beyond commas and typo fixes, you should be citing sources to verify any new content, and ensure that it's written from a neutral point of view. Above all, steer clear of any edits that might seem to promote you, your company or the area.
- Sorry to bombard you with bluelinks, but if you read through at least some of the links above, you should quickly get a better understanding of how Wikipedia works. If you have any questions, leave a message on my talkpage or post at the helpdesk for advice. All the best, Yunshui 雲水 14:02, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 10:02, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Re: Talk:Valais
[edit]These changes have been added repeatly over nine months and reverted by two different editors and a bot. As noted above your user name violates en. Wikipedia's Wikipedia:Username policy, you seem to have a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, and your Wikipedia:Single-purpose account is only being used to add unreferenced promotional material to Valais.
- An account cannot be used by more than one person. Don't use "we" where your meaning can be taken wrong.
- This account is overdue to be blocked until you use Wikipedia:Changing username.
- Even if you rename this account, neither it nor any other will be permitted to make such changes to the article
- en. Wikipedia policies and guidelines require that material that may be added must be sourced to independent third-party Reliable Sources (RS) (see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners).
- Be concise, but not overly detailed. No one needs to know how many golf courses there are, and they don't get listed unless they have articles and are referenced.
- Your links to various tourist locales looks like it could be useful as a linked category, Tourism in Valais, or such, see Visitor attractions (from Template:Idaho Topics section)
Get your name fixed, I'd recommend stating your affiliation clearly on your user page, and then find references or ask for help. Use the {{helpme}} template here or the article talk page. Dru of Id (talk) 11:17, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
Wikipedia is currently quite hard to edit. There are plans underway to make it simpler for people who aren't geeky to edit. Hopefully that'll arrive soon. In the meantime, this page has more details on how to edit. If you've got any questions, please feel free to ask at the help desk.
