I did a lot of editing on the 261st Medical Battalion page tonight. I'll probably do some more over the next few days, including adding some additional citations and some of the World War II history.

I know nine of the former commanders and two of the former CSMs personally, and am a former Chief of Staff of the 44th.

Technically, the designation of the battalion is the 261st Medical battalion. The Multifunctional part is only a parenthetical, and can come or go on the whims of the Army, just as the Evacuation or MEDLOG designation can (and has) for other battalions. That's why I've addressed it as the 261st Medical Battalion throughout the text, and not as Multifunctional.

In World War II, it was the 261st Amphibious Medical Battalion, as an example of how designations change.

I've also deleted a number of pieces that were more appropriate for the 44th than the 261st (for example, the shoulder patch, flash, and oval), and replaced them with the coat of arms and DUI of the battalion.

I know that Cole Slattery took the Battalion Headquarters to K2 at the beginning of the Afghanistan campaign; I don't know if enough of the battalion went for the battalion to earn an Afghanistan campaign streamer for it--you might want to check into it. It was just before I arrived as the Chief of Staff in 2002.

But great work! Now get your friends in the rest of the Brigade to work on their units as well! I'll be working on the Brigade Headquarters' history in Vietnam shortly.
