Function details: Utilize AutoWikiBrowser auto tagger and general fixes functionality for the following tasks:
- Use AWB's general fixes to merge supported templates into {{Multiple issues}}. Run against articles that have {{Multiple issues}} and another supported template, such as {{no footnotes}}.
- Use AWB's Tagger to remove {{Orphan}} from articles with more than two incoming links. Run against articles in the monthly subcategories of Category:Orphaned articles.
- Use AWB's Tagger to remove {{Dead end}} from articles with at least one wikilink. Run against articles in Category:Dead-end pages.
- Use AWB's Tagger to change {{Unreferenced}} to {{Refimprove}} from articles with at least one reference. Run against articles in the monthly subcategories of Category:Articles lacking sources.
- Diffuse the very large category Category:American novels into the appropriate sub-category of Category:American novels by century by using other categories on the same article (e.g. For all articles in Category:1987 novels, the bot would change Category:American novels to Category:20th-century American novels.)
Discussion
[edit]Some quick questions:
- Use AWB's Tagger to remove {{Orphan}} from articles with more than two incoming links. Run against articles in the monthly subcategories of Category:Orphaned articles. — Will this account for pseudo-incoming-links like redirects, links from talk pages, or templates (for example)?
- Use AWB's Tagger to remove {{Dead end}} from articles with at least one wikilink. Run against articles in Category:Dead-end pages. — Similar to above, will this account for redlinks and template-based links (e.g., a navbox with links to related articles)?

- Hi Slakr. I believe it's just links from other articles, but I'd be happy to test any examples you would be willing to provide. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 03:05, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Confirmed AWB's general fixes don't remove the orphan tag for Near-field magnetic induction communication, which has three incoming links from redirect pages, but no incoming links from articles. GoingBatty (talk) 03:09, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Approved for trial. Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. Do about 25-50 edits per task. --Chris 12:36, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Trial complete.
- The trials for tasks #1 (e.g. this edit) and #2 (e.g. this edit) completed successfully.
- The trial for task #3 completed successfully (when I used the proper category Category:All dead-end pages - e.g. this edit) except for this edit, which added tags instead of removing tags. The issue was that the article contained {{internallinks}} which redirects to {{dead end}}, and I was only saving articles that no longer contained the word "dead". To prevent this from happening in the future, I updated Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/Template redirects with this edit. --GoingBatty (talk) 02:38, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- The trial for task #4 has completed. (e.g. this edit) There were a few edits such as this where {{unreferenced}} was properly changed to {{BLP unsourced}}, but this is outside the scope of my bot request. To prevent this from happening, I stopped the bot, changed AWB so that it skips pages that do not contain the word "refimprove" after the edit, and restarted to finish the trial. --GoingBatty (talk) 03:08, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- The trial for task #5 completed successfully. (e.g. this edit) --GoingBatty (talk) 03:36, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Approved. --Chris 07:04, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
