- Leaves a message on the talkpage of the articles the image is on
Discussion
[edit]A few concerns:
- Instead of leaving a message on article talkpages, I believe it should add {{deletable image-caption}} to the image captions. And if you don't, SamBot will do it.
- How are you getting your list of uncategorized images? Does the automatic inclusion of Category:Wikipedia files with unknown copyright status mean that the bot won't check an image with {{nld}} already on it?
- About how many images currently do not have categories?
I look forward to your answers. – Quadell (talk) 16:16, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I think the message on the talkpage gets a better response but ok I'll change it to that
- It gets them from a database query so yes images already tagged with {{nld}} will not be included
- I think about ~1400

Approved for trial (30 images). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. (For each image there will be multiple edits -- the image itself, the uploader's talkpage, and then any articles.) – Quadell (talk) 15:18, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Trial complete. --Chris 12:08, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Did you mean to replace spaces in the image name with underbars? (example) – Quadell (talk) 13:53, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Also, you seem to have a problem with links in captions. (example) – Quadell (talk) 13:55, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Both bugs are now fixed. --Chris 08:21, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Approved for trial (50 images). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. Great, let's try another batch. – Quadell (talk) 12:16, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Still problems: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]... roughly one in 6 edits seems to be in error. Please go over all edits carefully to find and fix bugs. – Quadell (talk) 15:11, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Ok I've fixed #1 (hopefully for good).
- #2 the tag was {{Non-free stamp}, it would be possible to make the bot allow this however the tag still wouldn't display correctly (actually it might be possible to make the bot correct these tags)
- #3 the tag was subst'd - might be possible to make the bot look for things like {{imbox and [[Image:Heckert GNU white.svg|52px|GFDL]] but it won't be full proof
- #4 again subst'd (might be possible to get the bot to look for comments like <!-- Fair use tag, based on Template:Image-license-fairuse --> as well)
- #5 - should be fixed
Any thoughts on possible solutions to the subst problem? --Chris 11:56, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Ok, I've updated it so that the bot won't tag any images with an image embedded on the page. This should avoid the subst problem since majority of copyright tags have an image in them. --Chris 11:34, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- So I assume this won't happen anymore either? – Quadell (talk) 12:30, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes. --Chris 12:35, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
