Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic, supervised
Programming Language(s): PHP, self-written framework
Function Summary: Update usage of Template:Link FA (add / remove template in articles)
Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): infrequently, once or twice a month, depending on available time for User:Guandalug to watch it work.
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): N
Function Details: See User:LinkFA-Bot/function for a detailed operation description. This bot already works for the very same task on the German Wikipedia, having the same username over there (including assigned botflag, of course). Addendum: running a test on this wiki (everything but saving the pages) I got slightly over 1,200 articles to update, Link FA - wise. The update itself at least is desperately needed.

[edit]Sounds good. — Werdna talk 02:26, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm standing ready to let the bot do a few test edits... 10, 20, 50 - your call. Unprotected pages only right now, but semiprotected pages will soon not pose a problem any more. Just tell me when. --Guandalug (talk) 19:06, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Approved for trial (25 edits). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. --uǝʌǝsʎʇɹoɟʇs(st47) 19:10, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks, that was fast now ;). Will tell the bot to do some work in a few moments. --Guandalug (talk) 19:18, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- There you go. 25 edits, with 2 articles needing my attention afterwards: One for vandalism repair (not from my bot, but preceding its edit), and one for an unknown excellency template (on br wiki) which I taught my bot, so it shouldn't cause any followup errors on this. That it's mainly removals of Link FA templates the bot did is due to the random selection of articles (and the fact that some of the more interesting articles were semi-protected and thus currently not editable for the bot - a fact that'll change in 2 days. --Guandalug (talk) 21:46, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- My only concern is your list of interwiki links here are, well, interwiki links. Is this page going to be impacted at all by the interwiki bots (don't know much about them, myself)? - AWeenieMan (talk) 22:55, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I most certainly don't think so. For one, it's a one-way link, and I've been told IW - bots frown upon those. Secondly there should not be any incoming IW links, so I wouldn't know how an IW bot should stumble over that page. Plus, the page is in the user namespace, and an IW bot shouldn't search there at all. Up to now, there was no such incident on the German WP, that's all I can say on this... --Guandalug (talk) 23:30, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
