Discussion
[edit]Umm, you have to explain what it will do if you hope for approval. Jc3s5h (talk) 16:48, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Hi Jc3s5h, I don't see how Mjbmr fails to explain the task? Interwiki linking is a fairly standard bot task, and doesn't really require much more description then "standard pywikipedia interwiki", since most BAG and "botty-people" are familiar with it ;). - Kingpin13 (talk) 08:21, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there Mjbmr. Firstly, you shouldn't really be running this bot (even as a trial) before approval for a trial. Unlike some other projects the English Wikipedia requires bots to be approved even for test runs. However, this isn't really a massive problem. A couple of points regarding the bot: If you're not already doing so, you should be skipping the Template: namespace, as standard interwiki.py doesn't account for use of the {{Documentation}} subpage. Also, will you be running this bot without force while in autonomous mode? Please make sure you read through our bot policy - Kingpin13 (talk) 07:57, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Hi, Thank you for your helps, but now what you say to do? what option i should use? Guide me. Thank you mjbmr

10:26, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]- You should be able to use the -namespace option to limit the bot to articles (0), plus any other namespaces you want to edit (but not templates). And make sure the -force option is off - Kingpin13 (talk) 10:35, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- OK, Thank you mjbmr

11:05, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]- I see. But isn't this just what it always says at the end of the run? Because it's run through all the pages in -new or -recentchanges, so that shouldn't really be a problem, right?. Anyway, please confirm this:
- The bot will not edit Templates.
- The bot will not run in -force mode.
- Cheers, - Kingpin13 (talk) 11:15, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Ok,I didn't know that until you said it to me, I do not do that again, Thank you very much mjbmr

11:21, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]- No a problem. Anyway, we can see that you managed to get the bot to edit, so I wouldn't worry about it saying "nothing left to do". But before approval, I just need you to confirm this please:
- The bot will not edit Templates.
- The bot will not run in -force mode.
- Thanks. - Kingpin13 (talk) 11:28, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- I confirm this :
- The bot will not edit Templates.
- The bot will not run in -force mode.
- Thank you mjbmr
