[edit]Is there consensus at the project's page to implement this task (i.e. tag 500+ project pages)? — HELLKNOWZ ▎TALK
- That guy who requested this task probably forgot to ask there, anyway as he told all other pages already have that tag so it sounds logical to perform this task, also he said that it would be pain to get any reply while other people than him usualy do not even watch the talk there... anyway we can wait for him Petrb (talk) 12:39, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Per WP:BOTPOL, the bot must "perform only tasks for which there is consensus"; and this task in not un-controversial; so Awaiting consensus.. — HELLKNOWZ ▎TALK 12:41, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I just wanted to chime in that I apologize I didn't leave a comment on the projects talk page. Since the project already has a habit of tagging portal pages and currently has 1751 tagged as part of the project I didn't think it a controversial request. I didn't mean to imply that knowone watches the page though. There are quite a few folks that actively watch the page but responses are sporatic. You can withdraw the bot request if you want. I thought it would be an easy bot request that I could have someone knock out but it sounds like its probably easier if I just do it manually. I have a number of other tasks that might be better as bot requests once the discussions are final. --Kumioko (talk) 17:36, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't mean to say it's a bad task, all I'm referring to is the bot policy. I have no way of knowing which projects tag and which don't tag their pages, or whether a bot has previously been used for them or any other project. Given the number of BRFAs, all with different tasks, it is rather exhausting to keep searching the archives with the less than friendly search engine. My only option is to either ignore the BRFA until full details/links are given or just ask for details/links. A note on the project's page with a couple endorsements and no opposition would have been enough for me to call it rough consensus. — HELLKNOWZ ▎TALK 17:43, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- All good points and the note is on the project page so well see if anyone has a comment about it. --Kumioko (talk) 22:20, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Upon looking through the pages. Doesn't seem like anyone's objecting and this would help organize project pages without adding any controversial issues. Most pages are already tagged. Approved for trial (20 edits). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete.. — HELLKNOWZ ▎TALK 20:37, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Trial complete.. Petrb (talk) 06:08, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Approved. One-time task. Also, make your edit summary more explicit, per WP:BOTPOL "uses informative messages, appropriately worded, in any edit summaries or messages left for users.", for example "Placing {{WikiProject United States|class=portal|importance=NA}} banner ([[Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/Petan-Bot task4|bot]])". — HELLKNOWZ ▎TALK 06:59, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
