Automatic or Manually assisted: Automatic
Programming language(s): AWB
Source code available: AWB
Function overview: Create redirects for pages with special characters. Per Wikipedia:Page_naming#Special_characters there should be redirects for pages with special characters like dashes and diacritics. I would like authorisation to create missing redirects to pages with diacritics and or dashes, en-wiki mainspace only.
Links to relevant discussions (where appropriate): Wikipedia:Page_naming#Special_characters
Edit period(s): on release of database dump.
Estimated number of pages affected: 4000 (endashes)
Exclusion compliant (Y/N): Y
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Y
Function details: The purpose is to create missing redirects to comply with Wikipedia:Page_naming#Special_characters Functionality will be:
- Use db dump to scan for pages with endashes or diacritics in name
- Convert matched pages into title without endashes or diacritics
- Of the above pages, if the redirect does not exist, create a redirect to the actual page, and tag with {{R from modification}} (dashes) or {{R from title without diacritics}} per Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/RjwilmsiBot 2.
This means that for this task:
- Only new redirects will be created, existing pages will not be affected/moved.

Approved. Bit hard to review this thanks to all of those persondata edits. However, those edits I've looked at appear to be fine. Only comment would be to place a space between "REDIRECT" and "[[...". Since this is a relatively small number of redirects needed, it makes sense to have a bot create them. - Kingpin13 (talk) 23:13, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
