Discussion
[edit]If its Manual in that you review and confirm each edit before changes are made you don't need a bot account. But then again Mizlla would block Town-bot for violating 'username policy'. Welcome to the Catch-22. --Lemmey talk 01:42, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- If running in manual (which means you are manually approving every edit), you don't need bot approval or a bot flag. Feel free to go ahead. Consider this a BAG member's approval of your actions. :) dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 08:15, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- So what is the approval for, with or without a bot flag? Has the bot operator clarified in what way they are using it? - Taxman Talk 18:35, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- As I see it as a non-BAG member. Manual means that the bot script suggest some actions and if you have checked it you let the bot run automaticly. There is a whole world between manual and automaticly. And fully manual is let the bot do the search work and the user does all the edits. So this task could very good be done by a bot with a botflag. Carsrac (talk) 14:42, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- No, that's not manual. The way we use it manual means the operator looks at and approves each edit. - Taxman Talk 18:35, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- All bots now have the bot flag, even anti vandalism bots (media wiki now lets bots chose to flag their edits as bot or not). However we should just check that the bot is running in manual before it is flagged. {{OperatorAssistanceNeeded}} is the bot running in manual? (i.e. the bot asks you before it makes each edit) --Chris 09:03, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, manual. I will check each edit. I only want the bot because of thr repetitious nature of the edits that I plan. Thanks all for your input.Hughey (talk) 13:50, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Ok, you're set to go and flagged now. - Taxman Talk 23:36, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
