Support Excellent restoration work, and this is from before perspective was really understood, (at least, widely). Most art from this period appears like this - basically, the mind is very good at rotating objects, so that we can identify, say, a chair from any angle - but an artist needs to turn that automatic ability off in order to get perspective right.
