Reason: High-quality image of an extremely rare map of high historical value. (Two known copies exist, this one given to the Library of Congress, and another one lacking the footnotes in some museum). This image is based on File:Orlando-Ferguson-flat-earth-map.jpg, which Fallschirmjäger restored using various magic tricks. I have no familiarity with the FPC criteria, but the restored version seems to meet them with flying colors.

Support. I did think it needed a little work on placement in the FE article (which I did). Unfortunate that the article text does not mention this fellow and his book. I love the depiction of the round earth to the right, with those poor guys hanging on for dear life: "These men are flying on the globe at the rate of 65,000 miles per hour around the sun, and 1,042 miles per hour around the center of the earth (in their minds). You've got to admit that it is pretty fast. It's interesting how he accounts for hotter and colder regions by putting the poles at higher altitudes. So the Earth isn't so much flat as Jello-mold-shaped.--RDBury (talk) 06:07, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
