Wish to send money towards your cause. Wish to send cash with no further contact from you regarding same. How can that be achieved?

Look at https://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Ways_to_Give for different ways to give. There's an address there to send to, but it says please don't send cash in the mail. RudolfRed (talk) 00:53, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Since your IP address is from the USA, you could always buy a postal money order with your cash. They cost less than a dollar, so it won't eat into your donation substantially. 65.210.65.16 (talk) 20:17, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Help:Cite errors/Cite error references no text

[edit]

I don't understand how to use a citation more than once. I used the citation the first time using the template in text, but I don't know how to use it again. I'm not sure how there's nothing in the References when I click on Edit, yet there is a Reference section with references in it? This is for the article Mass Action Principle (neuroscience) and I want to use reference #2 again at the end of the Criticisms section. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nicbie7 (talkcontribs) 02:32, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

See Help:Referencing for beginners#Same reference used more than once. --  Gadget850 talk 02:43, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

New user and images

[edit]

I've encountered a new user, Bharat2cu.in, who has uploaded images, along with making self-promotional edits. Could someone check out their image uploads, as I can't see them? Are they the sort of images we want in Wikipedia, or are there other issues with them? If there are problems with this user's image uploads/additions, could you advise the user about them? An example of one of their images is File:Distribution of Local Winds over the globe.gif. Thanks! Graham87 04:51, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

His Commons uploads are here (you can get there from the uploads link on his user contributions page). He's claiming them as his own work, which they clearly aren't, but the originals (all at www.thecompetitionworld.com) appear to be licenced under CC-BY-SA, and so are acceptable here. Yunshui  10:37, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Yunshui: Graham87 knows how to find a user's uploads; the problem is that he can't see them. -- John of Reading (talk) 11:58, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I do apologise Graham; I hadn't read your userpage and so I misunderstood your statement above (it did strike me as odd that you wouldn't know where to find uploads...). In which case; they're rather childishly-drawn technical diagrams; we have better equivalents already in use. I wouldn't call them problematic as such, since they're used under CC-BY-SA and display their source rather prominently within the actual image. Yunshui  12:30, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
WP:WATERMARK and WP:PROMO are still active policies - so this map is indeed problematic and shouldn't be used. Nominated all those uploads for checking and possible deletion on Commons. GermanJoe (talk) 13:34, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The user has now changed his name from Bharat2cu.in to EpicBharat, hence his Commons contributions are now listed here instead of the link in Tunshui's earlier reply. --David Biddulph (talk) 14:34, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, everybody! Yeah I just wanted to know what they looked like. Graham87 15:00, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What should be done with this edit? Graham87 15:12, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The source website www.thecompetitionworld.com has a "CC-BY-NC" notice at the bottom left, which isn't free enough, so all these files are up for deletion at Commons. -- John of Reading (talk) 15:54, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'am writing to inform you that my previous uploads were with watermark and from my own website (signed with all rights reserved - I also changed it to CC license). As I come to know that its violation, I replaced those with new versions of same without watermark or any web address on it. I'm original and sole designer of these graphics. What should I do? Someone has already put an deletion request on previous ones. Is there way to delete those uploads or I don't need to? I've removed old image links from respective pages. EpicBharat (talk) 16:02, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The processes for donating copyrighted material are at WP:Donating copyrighted material. --David Biddulph (talk) 16:11, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If you have additional questions about Commons image uploading beyond that guideline, you can ask more specific questions at Commons:Commons:help desk, or anytime on my talkpage at Commons. Thanks for addressing those issues. GermanJoe (talk) 16:34, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Scotland nd my home town Stranraer

[edit]

I recently read your article about my home town Stranraer and wished to show my French wife. I opened in French and low and behold, there were only two lines! How can I help translate what is well documented in English into French for other French speaking family and friends? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.210.162.85 (talkcontribs) 16:31, 25 November 2014‎ (UTC)[reply]

You may find WP:Translate us helpful. --David Biddulph (talk) 16:38, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism of the Presidency University, Kolkata page

[edit]

Dear Wikipedians,

Please note that the wikipedia page of Presidency University, Kolkata has been recently subjected to much vandalism. The vice-chancellor's name has been replaced with swear words and fabricated information about the university has been put up on the page. This vandalism has started after 22nd November 2014. I would request any responsible Wikipedian who sees this to help us resolve this problem. Please note that users Kanishk Gomes and Presiuniv are directly identifiable with this vandalism. Eiennotoso has also added sections to the page that do not have any sources backing them up.

Best regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Souvikm1 (talkcontribs) 18:08, 25 November 2014‎ (UTC)[reply]

If the vandalism continues, you can request page protection at WP:RPP.--ukexpat (talk) 19:19, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Want to create a new page on wikipedia, but confused

[edit]

I was searching for a singer's bio but couldn't find it. So, I decided to create it myself. I've collected a lot of resources. When I started writing, then got struck :(. The editor is some kinda dull thing, it don't have any kind of option to add headings or other things. I want to create a page that completely look similar to the other pages or like this one Lady Gaga. Is there any brief post that can guide me through how to create pages like this? I want to add songs, bio and family background. I want my page to look like the same as mentioned above. I want to a tab which shows an image, name, birth place, status, DOB, and other things on the left and then everything else under that tab as its in the page Lady Gaga. I'm really confused... I tried to asking before, but couldn't get any satisfactory answers :( . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jacksparrow43 (talkcontribs)

@Jacksparrow43: have you tried Wikipedia:Article wizard ? -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 21:23, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I've tried this wizard, but couldn't get anything much :(. Isn't there any straight forward guide? TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom

Hello, Jacksparrow43. The best way is to choose a Good article on a similar topic, and use that as your guide. Open that article for editing, and copy the formatting. In fact you could even copy and paste the whole article into your draft and then set about changing the text as appropriate to your subject. Normally, copying and pasting is not acceptable, because it breaks attribution, but here you are intending to replace all the text anyway, so that is not an issue. It might be a good idea to put a note at the top explaining why the draft initially has content that relates to a different subject. --ColinFine (talk) 12:04, 26 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I want you to delete an article about me

[edit]

Hi my name is Cristina Mesa Postigo, and i want that wikipedia deletes all the information inmediatly about my person in every language. Because this information isnt true , and there is a picture of me in this article.

Thanks.

Cristina Mesa Postigo — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.17.94.72 (talkcontribs) 20:25, 25 November 2014‎ (UTC)[reply]

Is this the article in question? Cristina Mesa. Can you elaborate on what information isn't true and if it isn't reliably referenced it can be removed. Theroadislong (talk) 21:03, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You could make a request at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion on the grounds that you haven't really done anything noteworthy, and don't warrant inclusion in what is supposed to be an encyclopaedia.--Ykraps (talk) 21:29, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Initiating an AfD is extremely cumbersome - it may be easier to contact the WP:OTRS and ask them to initiate the AfD on your behalf (but it is likely that as winner of a major contest, the result would not be delete and rather a redirect to the listing of the winners). -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 21:37, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
On the one hand, initiating an AFD is not cumbersome if you use Twinkle. On the other hand, initiating an AFD is impossible for an IP, who cannot create the AFD discussion page. If there are inaccuracies in the article, go to Talk: Cristina Mesa or to the biographies of living persons noticeboard. Any of those alternatives is a better idea than vandalizing the article. Robert McClenon (talk) 21:44, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that's one way to put it. Traditionally, for people who skirt the lines of our criteria for inclusion, on request, we can start a deletion discussion. I've started a discussion myself. It is then up to the community to decide whether it stays or not, so we can't make guarantees about that. Please also note Wikipedia:Contact us - Subjects which gives some more ways to contact some of our experienced volunteers. Indicating which information isn't true is a great start to get false information removed from the article right now. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 21:46, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The discussion can be found at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Cristina_Mesa. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 21:52, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
