[edit]Cewbot
[edit]Please explain this sudden outburst of edits from "Cewbot": The article is listed in the level 5 page? Maineartists (talk) 00:14, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Maineartists: Is it related to this discussion about a possible error with that bot? User_talk:Kanashimi#Cewbot_adding_Template:Vital_article_to_Portal_talk: RudolfRed (talk) 01:15, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- RudolfRed It's just that daily when I would check my "Watchlist", I would see page after page being edited: "The article is listed in the level 5 page" by Cewbot. There was no rhyme nor reason to subject, just a mass editing. Was wondering what it all meant. Thanks! Maineartists (talk) 14:51, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

website variable - Infobox pandemic
[edit]Does anyone know if the website variable in {{infobox pandemic}} is broken?
It appears to not be working no matter how the address is formatted. See 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Illinois, 2020 coronavirus pandemic in California, 2020 coronavirus pandemic in South Dakota or any article using that template. — Trappist the monk (talk) 02:47, 26 March 2020 (UTC) (see below) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mr Xaero (talk • contribs) 02:38, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

The Swedish Academy of Realist Art, Simrishamn - does not exist on Wikipedia.org
[edit]Hi Wikipedia!
I wonder if you can help, I am struggling to add a new article in Wikipedia.org that doesn't exist but I don't understand how I get started. There is an art school in the south of Sweden called The Swedish Academy of Realist Art. It is only listed on Wikipedia.se not Wikipedia.org. I also have a picture I would like to add. The Swedish Academy of Realist Art is listed under "Art Schools around" the world in Wikipedia.org, but when you click on it (its in red) it doesn't exist. I think it should exist and I would like to add just a small text and factual description of the School. Are you able to help me? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Longstocking2020 (talk • contribs) 08:43, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Longstocking2020 Many schools do meet the Wikipedia definition of a notable organization, but an article must do more than what you describe. Wikipedia is not for merely telling about something. Wikipedia articles must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage state about the school. Please read Your First Article for more information. If you think that you can write such an article, you can use Articles for Creation to create and submit a draft for review by another editor. 331dot (talk) 09:17, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Also asked and answered at the Teahouse. Longstocking2020, please don't post questions in multiple places. --ColinFine (talk) 11:59, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Longstocking2020 I Googled the Academy and cannot find any significant coverage that would suggest notability. The Academy's Swedish Wikipedia article [[5]] is unsourced, suggesting a large barrier to getting an English article accepted. You're better off adding a line to Simrishamn.(Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this:

. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 22:37, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

How and when will I get my article published?
[edit]I have written an article about "Sims Pump Valve Company", I can not understand when it's gonna be published and will be? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Victoriiaagp (talk • contribs) 09:47, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Victoriiaagp You drafted the article in your sandbox, and it will stay there until you submit it for a review using Articles for Creation. If you were to submit it at this time, it would almost certainly be rejected, as you have no independent reliable sources with significant coverage to support the content of the article. A Wikipedia article about a business should only summarize what independent reliable sources say about it, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable organization. Not every business merits an article on Wikipedia, even within the same field. You may find it helpful to read Your First Article and use the new user tutorial to learn more about Wikipedia. Writing a new article is the absolute hardest task to perform on Wikipedia, and it's good to have some knowledge about the process first.
- If you are associated with this business, you will need to review the conflict of interest and paid editing policies as you would have some formal required disclosures to make. 331dot (talk) 09:53, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
Delay in saving the latest version?
[edit]Hello,
I recently edited the Indonesia article, but it seems that I'm the only one who can see the revisions. I use Firefox when I saved the revisions, and when I opened another browser (not logging in) and load the article, my revisions don't show up. It is, however, recorded in the Indonesia article's History page and My ID's Contributions page. Is there a delay or something in the latest version of the article being saved?
Here's some proofs:
- https://postimg.cc/QVKZYhHx (The article's lead, not logged in)
- https://postimg.cc/kRSr2Fkt (The article's economy section, not logged in)
- https://postimg.cc/QB6ZwMQV (The article's history page, not logged in)

Thanks! AdaCiccone (talk) 14:49, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- @AdaCiccone: I see the current version with your changes when I log out. Your other browser may have cached the article before your edit. Try to bypass your cache in that browser. If it still fails then try a null edit on the page to update the cache in our servers. In the past we sometimes served an old version to unregistered users but I haven't heard of this in a long time. PrimeHunter (talk) 15:33, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- That other browser of mine is Microsoft Edge by the way, and I set it always to erase everything (history, cookies etc) upon closing. I just did that manually, and when I load the article, and yes, my changes do show up. It seems that the option 'to delete everything on close' on Edge is not working properly. Thank you for your response, @PrimeHunter:, that had me a bit worried for a whlie :D AdaCiccone (talk) 16:10, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
Why is one of your editors deleting information on developments around crypto projects?
[edit]Why is one of your editors @davidgerard deleting information on developments around crypto projects? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.52.93.73 (talk) 14:49, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

- I'm guessing the OP means @David Gerard: and edits to articles like Cryptocurrency exchange. The edit summary seems pretty clear, "Crypto blogs are not reliable sources". Courtesy ping for David Gerard. - X201 (talk) 16:13, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- This is likely from a call to action for a meatpuppet army by a cryptocurrency project - see Talk:Proof of stake and Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Johnnygreeney. The complainant seems to know me only by my Twttter handle - David Gerard (talk) 16:40, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

I've broken something again
[edit]Template:2019–20 coronavirus pandemic data/United States/Ohio medical cases chart I thought I broke it, but when I went back and removed what I'd done, it didn't help. Can anyone figure out what stupidity I've engaged in? Thanks for any help! --valereee (talk) 18:50, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Valereee: I fixed it by going back to the last stable version and cutting and pasting the entire date set. It may be a bug - I couldn't see a difference while eyeballing the two data sets. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 19:23, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Valereee: The larger number on 2020-03-26 required a larger divisor to fit. Fixed with divisor=4.[8]. PrimeHunter (talk) 19:41, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Oh, interesting! Thank you both so much! --valereee (talk) 19:54, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Valereee: By the way, please always describe the perceived problem. After your first post I suspected it was about the bold red error message "Cite error: The named reference Enquirer Borchardt was invoked but never defined". This is caused by
<ref name="Enquirer Borchardt" />
without a defining<ref name="Enquirer Borchardt">...</ref>
. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:35, 26 March 2020 (UTC)- PrimeHunter, oh, sorry! I should have said, "the graph broke into two parts for today's info" probably? --valereee (talk) 20:43, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Valereee: That would have been perfect. Something may look obvious to you but not others, and many things may look different when others see a page. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:48, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

Linking a subject's website: once or twice?
[edit]I noticed several times the same URL of the subject's website is included both in an infobox and in the External links section. Is that correct? Or should it be inserted just once? And where? --CiaPan (talk) 20:38, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- I think at least some editors go by not if it's a short article, if it's relatively long why not. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:56, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- @CiaPan: Two links is usually correct. The infobox should display the url (without http(s):// and an optional www.) The external links section should not. It can use {{Official website}}. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:57, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you, Gråbergs Gråa Sång and PrimeHunter. The most recent example I happened to see was Mongolian Academy of Sciences, which follows precisely the hint given above by PrimeHunter. --CiaPan (talk) 10:33, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

- Which page is this about? This post is the only edit by your current IP address so we cannot see which edit you refer to. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:02, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- (ec) I'm sorry to hear that. However, without knowing which article you are referring to, there's not much I can offer in the way of explanation that might help you understand the problem and how to solve it. There is no relevant recent edit anywhere in your IP address range (up through /32). If you're interesting in understanding more about how Wikipedia works in general, please see the welcome message on your IP's talk page at User talk:2601:204:D503:F9F0:4DB0:C00F:2C6:B461.
