[edit]Trying to do the right thing here...I have looked a bit in MOS for explicit guidance on what is disallowed in this situation and haven't yet happened upon the right section. I'd appreciate it if someone could provide a link, and also perhaps give their own opinion about whether I inadvertently overstepped the no-merchandising rule by adding mention of the new movie to the article intro. While I admit that I'm happy if people go see the film, my thought, again, was not to take advantage of the article to plug the movie; if anything, it was the other way around, to use the film, as it were, to plug the article: "Greg who...? Oh, yeah, the guy in that new movie that all the Jesus freaks are so excited about." – HelpMyUnbelief (talk) 01:20, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- Mentioning that he was the subject of a movie in the lede seems perfectly reasonable to me. Not necessary, but surely reasonable. Random person no 362478479 (talk) 01:39, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
How to get semi protection
[edit]I don't know how to get semi protection with a confirmed account can you help? Ben Dover 23 (talk) 04:10, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Ben Dover 23. Pages can only be protected by a Wikipedia administrator, and this typically only done when there's some serious ongoing disruption of the page that needs to be addressed. Page protection tends to be a "last resort" type of action taken by administrators when other attempts to end the disruption have been unsuccessful. You can find out more about this at Wikipedia:Protection policy. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:57, 3 April 2023
- You can ask for it at WP:RFPP. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:40, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
I failed to get ref. number 25 correctly done. Please repair. Thank you. 58.179.137.31 (talk) 08:31, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- IP editor. The only error I could see was in a book citation. I fixed it with this edit. Mike Turnbull (talk) 08:36, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
Sorry. I have added a file from commons. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Norwich-_Octagon_Chapel_%28geograph_3236803%29.jpg
It is correct but far toooooo big! Underneath the photo it should read: Norwich's Octagon Chapel and adjacent Martineau Memorial Hall (right)
- Seems this has been Fixed. Eagleash (talk) 10:39, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
In the bibliography section - there is a new commons pic - I think it should not be in this bibliography section - but I have failed to place it in the section above. Please fix. Sorry again, 175.38.42.62 (talk) 12:42, 3 April 2023 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 175.38.42.62 (talk)

Christopher Boyes
[edit]Good Morning, I'm a student doing a project for Christopher Boyes. I have a few questions for you. Where was he Born? Where did he go to school? 131.150.66.130 (talk) 15:45, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hello. This page is for asking questions about using Wikipedia. If you can't find what you're looking for at Christopher Boyes, try the Reference Desk. 331dot (talk) 15:48, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
Links in Navboxes
[edit]Can navboxes include links to article sections, or do they have to be links to actual articles? Cambalachero (talk) 16:50, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Cambalachero: Section links are OK in most navboxes but there should generally only be one link to each article. Don't use a navbox to create an index to a list article. Pipe section links like
[[Article name#Section name|Link text]]
. Don't use {{Section link}} in navboxes. Sometimes there is a redirect to the section and it may be better to link the redirect in case it's converted to an article later. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:14, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
How to Seek Guidance From WikiProject on Organizations
[edit]Hello, an article I revised was given a C-Class rating (low quality) by the WikiProject on Organizations. It's possible the article was assigned the rating before my revision was completed. Unsure. How can I communicate with this group? Thank you for your help in this matter. PatriciaBishop (talk) 17:36, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
All, thank you for your advice. This issue is (happily) resolved.
- Courtesy link: National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment
- You can just revise the ratings based on that WikiProject Organizations importance scale and their quality scale. You don't need to be a part of a WikiProject it to help it. PalauanReich (talk) 17:50, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- Many thanks, @PalauanReich. PatriciaBishop (talk) 19:22, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- @PatriciaBishop: To answer your specific question, you can "communicate with the group" at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Organizations. You might choose to do this if you prefer not to change the rating yourself since you did the work, or you may change the rating and then use that page to ask if other editors agree with you. -Arch dude (talk) 18:01, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for these specifics. Most helpful. PatriciaBishop (talk) 19:24, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- There are only very small changes [1] after the C rating [2]. I think most editors and nearly all readers pay no attention to ratings. PrimeHunter (talk) 19:55, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you. I see your point. I'd like, however, to declare this article "complete" until I can find more secondary sources (which may not exist) and want to correct any major faults. I will ask editors on the Project's talk page whether there is extraneous information in the article. This could be a reason for the C-class rating. PatriciaBishop (talk) 20:13, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- @PatriciaBishop: I've created only a few articles in my 16+ years here, and none of them are rated anything but Start or C, even ones that I consider fairly well developed, like Cosmographia (Bernardus Silvestris). Doesn't bother me at all. If you think that you've created a useful addition to Wikipedia (I haven't looked at the article), the rating should be the last thing on your mind. Deor (talk) 02:05, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you. That's helpful. I'll consider my time better spent on other editing activities.PatriciaBishop (talk) 14:59, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Deor, I read and enjoyed "Cosmographia." Nice work. PatriciaBishop (talk) 16:10, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
Is ITV news a reliable source?
[edit]Can I cite to www.itv.com/news as a source; is it reliable? 81.155.227.238 (talk) 18:35, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- As a source for the sort of things TV news broadcasters generally report on, probably. Though 'reliability' can only really be assessed when looking at particulars: what exactly being cited, and what proposed Wikipedia content is it being cited for. AndyTheGrump (talk) 18:44, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi there! ITV isn't listed on Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources, but you could use the search function on that page to find previous discussions about it, such as Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 204#itv.com. Hope this helps, and happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 21:49, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
Help in submitting page below to wikipedia
[edit]Haroldk1234 (talk) 18:50, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- Courtesy link: Draft:Elijah Green - 199.208.172.35 (talk) 18:54, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- The biggest problem here is probably that most of the new version of the draft - along with that photo to the right - seems to consist of potential copyright violations. Also: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Elijah Green. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 19:04, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback. These are public articles on a celebrity player. No different that any professional athletes' page? Haroldk1234 (talk) 19:05, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- You appear to have copy/pasted directly from your sources. That's the problem. You need to summarize in your own words, then cite. Also, you uploaded this photo as your own work. Did you take the picture? The metadata says it was taken by Amanda Bowen, copyright: 2023 Washington Nationals. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 19:09, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

delete account for two user name profiles not active yet
[edit]I have created two logins but I need to delete both, I cannot use my name which is what I wanted to link to information already published. neither profile is active, I stopped before publishing any content. Giusi Mastro 56 and ORA studio by Giusi Mastro are two profiles that need to be deleted. I want to use my name Giusi Mastro but the system will not let me create the account. Please help with any assistance you can on deletion of both these user profiles. Giusi Mastro 56 (talk) 21:02, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be deleted for legal reasons (copyright attribution). One option could be to have the accounts renamed. See WP:UNC. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 21:13, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- Given the name you have requested, [3] you'll first need to read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, and probably Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure too. And note that Wikipedia is not a platform for the promotion of commercial enterprises. AndyTheGrump (talk) 21:16, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
BCLIQUOR rebrand
[edit]Hello, "BC Liquor Stores" is going through a rebrand and we are now "BCLIQUOR". I'm wanting to edit the title of our wikipedia page to "BCLIQUOR" to represent the rebrand and edit a few areas of text within the body of the page. I see that what I'm supposed to do is "move" the page to the new title. But "move" is not an option I have, even when signed in to the new account I have created. Can someone edit this for me or provide me with the authorization to do so? Thanks! BCLIQUOR (talk) 22:11, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- Note that it is not "your Wikipedia page", but a Wikipedia article about your agency. New accounts cannot move articles, please see Requested Moves- but first please see your user talk page for important information about your username, as well as WP:COI and WP:PAID. 331dot (talk) 22:43, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- BCLIQUOR is against Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Trademarks#General rules. BC is short for British Columbia so BCLiquor may be acceptable. PrimeHunter (talk) 01:05, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- @BCLIQUOR: Hi there! Because you have a conflict of interest, you shouldn't be editing the BC Liquor Stores article directly. You may post suggestions on the article's talk page, or use the Wikipedia:Edit Request Wizard to ask for help. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 21:52, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
