[edit]How can i suggest the right URL address of our city in the philippines?
[edit]Wikipedia is a source of information (right information), that gives the viewers and other people to view and act as a source of all. In this way, this article suggest to it the right information for the said content or URL. Edplacarlota (talk) 00:35, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Edplacarlota. If there is an incorrect URL in an article, click the "edit" button and correct it. If the article is protected, then make an edit request on the article's talk page. Cullen328 (talk) 00:40, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Cullen328, you forgot to mention that they should look for the correct title of said article before linking to it. Sometimes it could lead to a disambiguation page or something unrelated. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 00:44, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- Presumably, Edplacarlota knows which article they are talking about, since they say that there is an URL error in that article. Cullen328 (talk) 00:49, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Cullen328, just because they know what should be linked doesn't mean the name is straightforward. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 00:52, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

- @Edplacarlota In this edit you correctly edited La Carlota, Negros Occidental to link to the current website of your city's government. That's exactly what we hope people who notice errors in Wikipedia will do. Thanks! That's why it's called "the encyclopaedia anyone can edit". Mike Turnbull (talk) 14:44, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
Ref. number 100 is a poem in a book - it should have a little circle-emblem in front of it - I could not get it write. Please fix so my additional "tribute poem" is presented in the same way as the other tributes referenced in that sentence. Thanks 175.38.42.62 (talk) 07:45, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- The circle emblem is for marking links to content hosted on Wikisource. The tribute poem is hosted on Google Books, so it should not get the circle emblem. Cullen328 (talk) 08:14, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
Biography Pages
[edit]Dear ,
I just wish to learn that what are the requirements for a biography page on wikipedia? like famous personalities, celebrities with their parents, siblings, early life etc.
Thanks. Ziadnayyer (talk) 14:23, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Ziadnayyer: The only absolute requirement for a Wikipedia article is that the subject must be notable by our definition. We will not accept an article on a non-notable subject. See WP:NPERSON for our notability definition for people. -Arch dude (talk) 14:31, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
Request for Assistance - IP Address Exposure on Wikipedia
[edit]Dear Wikipedia Support Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I recently encountered an issue while editing a Wikipedia page and would appreciate your guidance and support in resolving it.
While making edits to a Wikipedia page, I inadvertently made some modifications without logging into my account. As a result, my IP address was exposed in the revision history. Recognizing this, I promptly logged into my account and made the necessary edits again, which this time while being properly authenticated. However, upon reviewing the page, I noticed that my IP address is still visible in the revision history.
Considering the sensitivity of IP address information, I wanted to inquire about the steps I can take to address this situation. I am concerned about the potential privacy implications of having my IP address publicly visible. I understand that Wikipedia maintains a comprehensive revision history, but I believed that once I logged in, my edits would be associated with my account rather than my IP address.
I kindly request your assistance in resolving this matter. Could you please review the situation and advise me on any actions I can take to ensure that my IP address is no longer visible in the revision history? Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and assistance.
Sincerely, Morphiter Morphiter (talk) 15:15, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Morphiter Please fill out the form at Special:EmailUser/Oversight, including the IP address exposed and links to the pages that you edited when logged-out. — Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 15:22, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
Activism and Advocacy
[edit]Does writing an article on, say, a bill you hope becomes law or a technology that you wish were more widely implemented violate WP:Activism or WP:Advocacy? Both imply that at least in some cases you can do that if you write it with a neutral point of view, but it's not quite clear if that's fine in every case short of outright conflict of interest. Mcavoybickford (talk) 16:32, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Mcavoybickford Not by default, but it will depend on what you write in it. "This excellent bill", "This marvelous design" etc would certainly seem like advocacy. If you manage to make a fair summary of independent WP:RS, it should be alright. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:00, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- I would note that if you're advocating with an organization to pass the bill, that would violate Wikipedia's COI policy. voorts (talk/contributions) 18:17, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- Also note: the bill or technology must already be notable as we define it. We have no place for "This tech could change everything!" or "This bill is vital for our future". --Orange Mike | Talk 18:51, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
Is this administrative page supposed to have WP:MAINSPACE categories and stub tags in it? The page looks like it was a mainspace article at some point and was moved to a Wikipedia-prefix but I didn't find evidence of it in article history. Mika1h (talk) 18:54, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- The explanation is at WP:Articles for deletion/TomeRaider. I do not find that compelling, and would put it to MFD if I could be bothered. ColinFine (talk) 19:08, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- I've redirected it. * Pppery * it has begun... 19:27, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
Transferring GA reviwer
[edit]Hello. I have taken over the GA review of Hednesford because the old reviewer has been inactive for 30+ days. Is there anyway for me to officially transfer reviewship? The reason why I ask is because I used the GA reviewer tool to place the article on hold, but it showed up as the old reviewer placing it on hold. Cherrell410 (talk) 21:21, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Cherrell410, you might try asking at Wikipedia talk:Good article nominations. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 14:05, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
