How Can I Search articles with two or more articles at once?

I want to search something like every people someone born in 1875 and died at 1946

so i should search Category:1875 births and Category:1946 deaths at the same time.

Wikipedia is not really a structured database, but our sister project, Wikidata is, and most article subjects in Wikipedia are represented by objects in Wikidata. It's quite easy to use Wikidata for this type of query. I do it so rarely that I must re-learn the details each time, but its very quick (five minutes?) and easy to re-learn. -Arch dude (talk) 11:27, 10 October 2024 (UTC)

Hello, GSKN81. It's a little hard to understand, but I think that what you are saying is that you want to add a translation of Pager#Attack on Hezbollah to an article in another language Wikipedia; and from your global contributions, I'm guessing that it is to the article bn:পেজার.

As far as English Wikipedia is concerned, you may do this: the only requirement is that you attribute the source when you make your edit - either in your edit summary, or on the Bengali article's talk page. See WP:TFOLWP.

Linking to a foreign-language Wikipedia

Sam Sailor, it's excellently named, too. Meanwhile, I don't remember how I first encountered {{illm}}, but anyway I encountered it before I first encountered {{ill}}. Since the former has always worked well for me, I've never bothered to investigate the latter. Adding my traditional caveat that interwiki links are hidden behind a long press on mobile when using {{ill}}, and the URL displayed may percent encode non-ASCII glyphs depending on browser. So for interwiki links to languages not using the Latin character set, the name of the target article will be illegible for a subset of readers unless they choose to click through to a different website.

For proper names and toponyms transliterated lossily, the target article title may be valuable information for readers, so it is sometimes appropriate to include a plaintext rendering in the native script adjacent to the {{ill}} transclusion. Folly Mox (talk) 17:42, 13 October 2024 (UTC)

Place names in Valencia, Eastern Spain

I just wanted to check whether we can use Valencian exonyms (see Corpus Toponímic Valencià) in the Spanish-speaking regions of the Valencian Community. I think we could since Valencian is official in the whole Valencian territory, and the same happens with Spanish in the Valencian-speaking regions of the Valencian Community (i.e. we use both forms despite official local denominations, see Benissa in Valencian and Benisa in Spanish). Hey, I'm thhat user (as you can see half of my IP matches) but where I am now it's just mobile Internet that keeps changing the IP on a daily basis.

I would say there a very few examples like Torrevieja where this doesn't apply. Valencian has never been spoken in Torrevieja and no one says Torrevella except for some Catalan books.

For Spanish names in Valencian-predominant areas, we know Spanish is still used and many English or foreign sources also use the Spanish name, even if it's not official. Calpe or Jávea are more common from miles away in any language (other than Valencian/Catalan) than Calp or Xàbia despite these last ones being official.

As you saw I didn't try to delete anything from your recent changes including the duality of Valencian names. I am from Valencia too and I like that detailed info. But for Torrevieja honestly, I would say it's an exception. As Valencian has never been spoken there. 84.125.73.65 (talk) 10:11, 10 October 2024 (UTC)

Torrevieja is in the Valencian Community (where Valencian is official), the same than Benissa is in Spain (where Spanish is official), therefore both towns could use an exonym in the correspondent language. The name Torrevella is used by other Valencians, similar to Benisa is used by those who use Spanish. It's a way or matter of respect to both linguistic realities in the Valencian Community. I oppose to this change. The AVL or the IEC have invented these names. Orihuela was once historically Valencian speaking, Torrevieja was never. No one says "Torrevella" except for pro-catalanism Catalonian newspapers and the AVL, you won't find an official source saying that.

Torrevieja was settled only with Spanish-speaking people and it has been like that since the town started to exist. I have left both "Oriola" and "Torrevella" terms as a good willing gesture but they can never be in the infobox nor either in bold text. Even if Valencian is official in the entire Valencian Community, it's NOT in Torrevieja or Orihuela (amongst other places) as public workers here don't require to speak Valencian as in Valencia, for example.

The difference with Valencian speaking towns is that people also speak Spanish there. But in Spanish speaking towns (especially around Murcia) no one speaks Valencian. It's not even mandatory at schools. I'm a Vega Bajense so I know how it is. Vega Bajense (talk) 11:22, 11 October 2024 (UTC)

Hi Vega Bajense, those names have not been invented by the AVL, they exist because Valencian is official in all the Valencian Community and the local people in non-traditional Valencian speaking areas have the right and choice to learn Valencian. As I said it's a matter of respect to keep those names, and the same occurs in traditional Valencian-speaking areas with Spanish (like Benissa). People have the right to choose any language they want. True. The difference in Vega Baja del Segura is that Valencian has the same value as French, German or Chinese. It's not even a mandatory school subject, unlike English. This happens in all of the Vega Baja except for Guardamar del Segura, where Valencian is co-official.

I have left your edits on Orihuela just without the bolding and without including it in the infobox (if you want to, wait for a consensus as that wasn't there) I have left your edits in the page Vega Baja except for that biased map made by a Wikipedia Commons user who claims himself as a "Catalan Nationalist" in his own Wikipedia profile.

But about the Torrevieja issue I have deleted it all as per WP:BRD and let's reach a consensus first. I'm from La Vega Baja. I know my history and what my people think. To let you know, many people here don't even like to be Valencian. There are political movements and associations to make La Vega Baja even another separate province in Spain, even outside from Alicante.

This is just random info but I know Orihuela used to he Valencian speaking. Torrevieja was settled only by Spanish-speaking people (including many Murcian fishermen, actually) and has never been bilingual. You can even go there and check that the local people have almost the same accent as eastern people from Murcia.

Do you want to include "Torrevella" which is a term locally hated by the people of Torrevieja? (I can find even local newspaper sources for this) okay, let's reach a consensus. But don't put it again as that wasn't the stable version of the page. I would agree with it only if you put it unbolded on the lead and with the IPA name in a small note. But putting "Torrevella" there like it's a relevant or a local/regional name... that doesn't make any sense. Vega Bajense (talk) 22:04, 11 October 2024 (UTC)

You are mixing facts, English, French and German are not official in the Valencian Community, whereas Valencian is. Why would it be hated a language in Torrevieja? That doesn't sound right. Anyway, it doesn't make much difference having it in bold or not. But the IPA should be in the lead as the names aren't too long just like as other Valencian towns display it. If you have an improvement to suggest to an article, the best place to make your suggestion is the talk page of the article (here, Talk:Sonny Dykes). Your argument will be more persuasive if you can point to a reliable published source that contains the information - otherwise anybody who decides to implement your suggestion will need to go looking for a source themselves. Photo citation corrected by me, then changed back to incorrect caption by someone afterwards for Love (band).

I changed the citation of the picture to correctly show Arthur Lee on the left side of the photo in the Wiki page of Love (band). And someone reverted the caption back, incorrectly showing Arthur Lee at photo top. @Packzap: Wikipedia content is based on reliable published sources. In this case the original version at File:LOVE60s.png#filehistory actually had names in the image. Here is a better version. It's still hard to read the precise names but it has to be John Echols at the left and Arthur Lee at top. That's what someone reverted back to [2] after you had changed away from it. You will need an excellent source if you claim an official promotional image for the band mixed up their names. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:37, 10 October 2024 (UTC)

PrimeHunter, the positions of the names on that promotional photo are ambiguous. One thing that is certain is that Arthur Lee was African-American. Well it's ridiculous to assume one scant promotional image by the record company is labeled correctly when all other sources show the person on the left is Arthur Lee, and thus this photo is labeled incorrectly. Just see the wiki (and photo) for Arthur Lee himself, or the thousands of images of the man from reputable sources like Getty images, https://www.gettyimages.com/photos/arthur-lee, and it's plain as day that the musician Arthur Lee (of African descent) is not captioned correctly in the Wiki photo of the band he lead - Love. @Cullen328: The only ambiguous position is the top name but when the other four are clear, the top name has to refer to the top person. The bottom name John Echols couldn't possibly be meant for the top person. They are both part African-American. In [3] Johnny Echols says "Arthur and I were young and headstrong, having been raised in bi-racial families". The image [4] looks like a photomontage of different photos in different light conditions with the backgrounds cut out. @Packzap: See what happens if Johnny Echols is added to your search: https://www.gettyimages.com/photos/arthur-lee-johnny-echols. Small Text on Mobile Device with Desktop Mode and Web Browser

Earlier today, when I am logged in using my alternate mobile account (User:McClenon mobile), using desktop mode with Google Chrome, my display has gone to small type that is not easy to read (with a good prescription for computer vision glasses) and is sometimes difficult to touch in the right place. What may have been accidentally set, and how can I restore normal size text? I looked at Preferences, and don't see anything that sets the screen small. I have tried Mobile View, and that doesn't help. It is still small, and besides I am in Mobile View, which I don't like (just as User:Cullen328 doesn't like it). I tried logging on from my desktop computer as McClenon mobile, and I am seeing a normal display for the full-size monitor that I use with my real desktop computer. If I read the news online, using Google Chrome, it displays the news pages in normal size. What would I have accidentally set that causes small type to display on a mobile device using Desktop View and a web browser? (When I am using my mobile device to view and edit Wikipedia, I always use Desktop View and a web browser.) Robert McClenon (talk) 21:40, 10 October 2024 (UTC)

@Robert McClenon: It might be the appearance settings on the right-hand side of the screen; if you've collapsed it in the past, the menu should be hiding behind the

Thank you, User:Tenryuu - I have found the glasses icon at the top of the screen when I am logged out, so I can control the size of the type if I edit logged out, but I don't want to edit logged out. I don't see the glasses icon at the top of the page when I am logged in as User:McClenon mobile. Do you or anyone have a clue as to how I can get that icon to display? Robert McClenon, what skin is McClenon mobile using in Special:Preferences? I switched to desktop view just now in another tab, and I see the glasses icon in Vector 2022. I don't know whether it's present in all skins. It's possible you may also have to toggle on "Enable responsive mode" and/or "Enable limited width mode" for your mobile account under Appearance → Skin preferences (I have these turned on – because I don't have a computer anymore and use my phone for everything – unsure if they have any effect on visibility of the text size switchy glasses). I was using Monobook both from my mobile account on a phone, and from this primary account on my desktop or laptop computers. When I changed the skin on my phone, it solved most of the font size problem. There are a few minor annoyances about labels that are small, but I am not in a hurry to solve them.
