Page protections

Is there a Special: page which contains all forms of page protection, similar to Special:ListGroupRights for UALs? I'm aware of WP:PP and mw:Protection, but I am trying to understand the interaction between the templates (e.g., shown in {{Protection templates}}) and the administrative actions on Wikipedia. Tule-hog (talk) 00:10, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

(Like 'protection bits/flags' or something, given how protection logs read?) Tule-hog (talk) 00:43, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
Similarly, is there a MediaWiki: interface page for the little lock icons on protected pages, or is that something else? Tule-hog (talk) 00:59, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Protection policy has the various levels defined and compared. DMacks (talk) 08:32, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
I'm not sure this answers your question, but sometimes this is the only way to understand it: protection levels are initially set out in config files: [1] (do a search for 'wgRestrictionLevels' and have a browse around). -- zzuuzz (talk) 09:06, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
@Tule-hog: The lock icons are not added by MediaWiki but by a protection template on the page. The file names are set in Module:Protection banner/config. You can search it for "shackle". PrimeHunter (talk) 09:30, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
No, no such special page exists. Welp, other than if you want to go very deep into the tech weeds. * Pppery * it has begun... 15:36, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
Thanks to everyone for the links to noc.wikimedia (great stuff. I had no idea this existed, definitely close to what I was looking for since I had questions about other WMF projects; I like peeking around the subterranes of this ecosystem), Module:Protection banner (I was hesitant to conclude PrimeHunter's point because I was confused about {{rcatsh}} and {{documentation}}'s automatic behavior, but that confirmed it for me), and clarifying other confusions. This will be useful going forward! Tule-hog (talk) 18:22, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

Move button

Hello! My username is MiguelSaiyan. I'm autoconfirmed but i still didn't got the move button, how to fix it? MiguelSaiyan (talk) 08:51, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

What is it that you're trying to move? 331dot (talk) 09:00, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
The title of the article im making. MiguelSaiyan (talk) 09:05, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
@MiguelSaiyan: Special:Log/MiguelSaiyan shows your account creation. You become autoconfirmed in five hours when it's four days old. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:09, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
MiguelSaiyan I would add that even if you are technically capable of placing it in the encyclopedia yourself, it is highly recommended that you run it through the review process first, so that other eyes get on it as a draft and not as an article(where it will be treated more harshly as it's assumed you knew what you were doing). See WP:WIZARD. 331dot (talk) 09:13, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

Commons cat

Is there a commons category template that will create a simple single line at the end of the article? Thanks. scope_creepTalk 18:11, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

Would {{Commons category-inline}} serve the purpose? Sam Sailor 19:19, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
@Sam Sailor: Thats perfect. Thank you. scope_creepTalk 19:23, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

Infobox transclusion mystery. Phantom image coming in from somewhere.

I can not figure out what's going on with Virgin Music. There are two logos. Where is the image "Virgin_Music_logo.jpeg" that appears nowhere within the source coming from? Even when I blank the page completely and replace it with nothing but {{Infobox company}} with no reference to that file whatsoever, the logo persists (in preview that is.., I haven't actually tried saving it). I don't get it. If I put in "|logo =" and define a file name, I can over ride it, but what's causing a default to be assigned? If one wants to retain the infobox, but remove a logo, can that even be done? Graywalls (talk) 18:43, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

{{infobox company}} states (second right sidebar) "This template uses the Wikidata properties: ... logo image (P154) ..." -- Verbarson  talkedits 19:41, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
hmmm i see. Graywalls (talk) 19:51, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

Red Blonde Fox Page

Hi! I am trying to create an page for Red Blonde Fox, an Christian brand ambassador. However, I wasn't aware of Wikipedia's username policy when I created my account and I now have a problem with being able to publish her Wikipedia page because I decided to create an account with her name. Is there any way that I can have the username changed to Black Dark Rebel instead of Red Blonde Fox? She asked me to create the page for her as a means of helping her fans learn more about her. Please let me know what I am supposed to do. Thank you!

Ashley Wilkins Redblondefox (talk) 18:51, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Changing username. Please see WP:AfC by the way. Directly creating a page on yourself/your company directly into the main space is extremely discouraged. Graywalls (talk) 18:54, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
@Redblondefox: Because Red Blonde Fox also asked [you] to create the page for her as a means of helping her fans learn more about her, you need to declare a conflict of interest, preferably on your user page. Red Blonde Fox should also be aware that an article about her isn't necessarily a good thing, Wikipedia articles are not written with the intent to promote the subject, and that she will not have control over what the article's contents will be. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 19:10, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
Having looking at the draft in your user page, and a cursory search on the subject, I'm pretty confident she's too run of the mill and non-notable to qualify for a Wikipedia article. Pages about people must meet WP:ANYBIO. Graywalls (talk) 19:32, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

Wikipedia audi listening speed

English second language. Wikipedia audi articles too fast. how slow announcer? Mohammad Ali Salih (talk) 20:43, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

@Mohammad Ali Salih Interesting question! The advice at WP:Audio does not mention slowing down playback speeds. I think you may be able to download the file to your own computer and then use a local playback program like Windows Media Player to do what you want. C/2023 A3

How can I Get my picture of c/2023 A3 uploded? Comet Dude (talk) 23:10, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

I suppose you're asking about C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS); but whatever it is, Comet Dude, if you believe that a photograph that you took would benefit a Wikipedia article, then you go to Commons' "upload wizard" and carefully follow what this tells you. -- Hoary (talk) 02:07, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
