Community
Wikipedians are the people who write and edit articles for Wikipedia. Together they form the Wikipedia Community. There are currently 48,231,623 registered user accounts plus an unknown, but relatively large, number of unregistered contributors. There are many ways in which Wikipedians may communicate with each other.
WikiProjects
A WikiProject is a collection of pages devoted to the management of a specific topic or family of topics within Wikipedia; and, simultaneously, a group of editors that use said pages to collaborate on encyclopedic work. It is not a place to write encyclopedia articles directly, but a resource to help coordinate and organize article writing and editing.

The development of active WikiProjects is encouraged and assisted by the WikiProject Council, a group of Wikipedians gathered to act as a central point for inter-WikiProject discussion and collaboration. The Council maintains a directory of all active WikiProjects.
