#StudentsofIslamicArt

Welcome to #StudentsofIslamicArt, an anual GLAM editathon.

The first editathon took place on December 12-14, 2018, the second on December 9, 2019, the third December 6-7, 2020, the fourth December 7-9, 2021, and the fifth December 5-6 2022. Each year, events focused on improving entries and attaching open-source images to Wikipedia articles on Islamic Art.


About Students of Islamic Art

Shangri La was happy to share in the first #StudentsofIslamicArt Wikipedia Edit-a-thon. Students from Rutgers-Newark and University of Texas at Austin met up digitally between December 12-December 14, 2018 to contribute content and open-source images to under-researched pages on Islamic arts and cultures. Shangri La encourages participation in the GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) sector and supports the empowerment of students and the impact their research can have to the world around them. In 2019 the Edit-a-thon continued with participation from students at Rutgers University-Newark, The University of Texas at Austin and Temple University. In 2020, the project was joined by students from Charles Sturt University in Australia.
