Unused redirect. As a subtemplate, it would only be called from the main template i.e., no public calls. Therefor, from main template only & no reason to call a redirect when its target is available. No use for distracting variant names. From maintaining the main {{Chembox}}, I'd say non-controversial. DePiep (talk) 22:14, 13 December 2021 (UTC)

Unused non-template, but its sub-templates ({{Party results shading/Republican/50–60}} and {{Party results shading/Republican/60–70}}) are also unused. Gonnym (talk) 19:34, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- Intent of this template I created this template, and the others mentioned, to standardize exactly what colors would be used to shade which specific results (i.e., what color would be used for a Republican win in a district with 60–70 percent of the vote), for use in election articles such as 1929 New York City mayoral election or (not standardized) 1927 Chicago mayoral election, similar to how we standardize exact hex values for Democrats and Republicans. I never got around to it, but I still think it's a good idea. – John M Wolfson (talk • contribs) 19:41, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- So count this as a keep unless Module:Political party is changed to accommodate this. – John M Wolfson (talk • contribs) 19:45, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- Neither 1929 New York City mayoral election nor 1927 Chicago mayoral election use any shading (nor should they). Gonnym (talk) 20:02, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Gonnym: Their maps, see the "Walker 40-50", "Walker 50-60", etc. – John M Wolfson (talk • contribs) 20:04, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- Ah. Your shading definition is different from all the other /shading templates. While they use it for text on color, you basically want to change the brightness of a color ("blue" for democrat) based on the percent of votes. That can have value. Amending nomination to move it to your sandbox as it isn't ready (and hasn't been in worked on in over a year and a half). Gonnym (talk) 20:14, 13 December 2021 (UTC)

= #3333FF for 40%. Frietjes (talk) 18:56, 20 December 2021 (UTC) - Delete as unused. Not sure why we'd want to be doing this anyway. per WP:COLOR "Ensure that color is not the only method used to communicate important information. Especially, do not use colored text or background unless its status is also indicated using another method" etc Nigej (talk) 14:52, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Nigej: This is in the context of maps, which are already visual media; the shading takes care of the colorblindness aspect, so I don't think those comments are relevant. – John M Wolfson (talk • contribs) 18:32, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
- Substitute and delete the subpages. These could probably be replaced by some version of {{HexShade}} or having a shading feature added to Module:Political party or add entries to the existing {{Party shading}} system. But, in any case, I don't think we need an entirely new system, especially when the map maker may not use these hex values, so they are most likely going to vary from map to map. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 15:50, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
- In fairness, this is supposed to create a standard for mapmakers to follow, so the "map maker may not use these hex values" does not apply, though I agree with the rest of your argument. – John M Wolfson (talk • contribs) 14:37, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

- Template:Party name with color (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
Propose merging Template:Party name with colour with Template:Party name with color.
Almost identical templates with a u difference in the name. The difference are:
- One needs a pipe "|" before it, the other doesn't.
- One uses
|row=
, the other|rowspan=
(the rowspan usage is cleaner as it needs 2 less ifs). - Unique to {{Party name with color}}:
|full=
to use the name passed and not a shorter name.
- Unique to {{Party name with colour}}:
|shortname=
to manually override the "shortname" in the module.|colour=
|color=
to manually override the "color" in the module.
These templates both serve the exact same functionality (and I wouldn't be surprised if most usages don't use any of the unique parameters either). Gonnym (talk) 09:29, 13 December 2021 (UTC)

- Hi! Creator of the template here. This template supported Template:NT parlbox, essentially a clone of Template:NZ parlbox. It had a lot of transclusions. As part of the implementation of the Module, the template was edited to source the colours, not shading by Primefac. This was reversed on the NZ parlbox, but not the NT one. The shadings are not included in the module. This template should only be deleted if the NT parlbox is deleted or redesigned. Whether it should be so I am not sure, but the two templates are tied to each other. (This also applies to Template:Country Liberal Party/meta/shading, Template:Palmer United Party/meta/shading, Template:Territory Alliance/meta/shading and Template:Northern Territory Nationals/meta/shading) YttriumShrew (talk) 08:39, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- I've restored the /shading for now. That said, the way these colors are used fail MOS:CONTRAST and the templates should be better designed so the text is not used over the color and then not need the /shading at all. Gonnym (talk) 10:02, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
