Progress
[edit]Update on the Wikidata Map of Accused Witches project – our student intern has begun her final 12 week role as of 15 July 2024
[edit]- Ruby Imrie's started full-time for a final 12 weeks as of 15 July 2024) to (1) perform the important Nuxt.js upgrade to the site (2) improve the site design and UX experience and (3) build new features e.g. a Map of Memorials and Glossary pages. Beta site is available to look at: test.witches.is.ed.ac.uk.
- Ruby has been using R to compare Wikidata with the Survey of Scottish Witchcraft to quality assure the witchcraft data. Checked datasets are marked with a on the Wikidata project page.
- Current progress since end of August 2024 includes:
- E. Whitehead has completed an expanded Glossary of terms related to Scottish witch trials. R. Imrie has almost completed the Nuxt.js upgrade (A. Millington to review before upgrade is deployed to live site) and has added the Glossary of Terms to the website and made it searchable by A–Z listing and by category (e.g. Ritual Objects).
- E. Whitehead has completed new Introduction to the Scottish witch trials and Further Reading pages.

[edit]- Curious Edinburgh – new witch tour of Edinburgh – E. Whitehead has been trained by Geoff Fortescue, Media Suite Manager, in August to be able to undertake professional film recording of Professor Julian Goodare and Louise Yeoman reading the 100–200 words on each of the 18 stops of the walking tour. Filming to take place on 12 and 19 September 2024. After the editing of these clips, the tour can be launched (hopefully in time for Halloween or soon after).
